HELL YEAH
hurts2bgood - February 4, 2012
GO UTAH
Manu-20 - February 4, 2012
nice little run they’re going on right now.
sleep research facility - February 4, 2012
What took you guys so long?
alamobro - February 4, 2012
yeah!
TDzilla! - February 4, 2012
so what do you guys think best win of the season so far
Manu-20 - February 4, 2012
certainly one of the most satisfying.
sleep research facility - February 4, 2012
It was good, but I liked the win against Houston a little better. They have been beating us seemingly every time.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
Best performance from TP…
Reylan - February 4, 2012
Yep
Ayatollah - February 4, 2012
First Dallas game.
I think our best loss was the second Dallas game when our bench took it to them. I love those games.
Final Frame - February 4, 2012
Drafting Leonard!
TrooperJoe73 - February 4, 2012
He looks pretty good, no?
quincyscott - February 4, 2012
I liked our trashing Atlanta and a difficult win @Orlando. Beating Dallas was sweet, but they didn’t look good at all, so it felt like they lost it more than we won it. If we scored 1 more point @Dallas, it would be our best win.
Kondor - February 5, 2012
In all of the games where I only posted once in the game threads, we’ve won… I think I’ll do that more often! :-)
Reylan - February 4, 2012
The mojo is strong with you.
CapHill - February 4, 2012
Yeah! I should not break the mojo!
Reylan - February 4, 2012
Hello.
day_late_friend - February 4, 2012
Josh, in case I haven’t said it this year, you kick ass running the game threads/quick caps.

That’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.
Edg5 - February 4, 2012
AJ got passed for all time assists by Tony
alamobro - February 4, 2012
Tony nearly doubled Durant 42-22, and Westbrook only passed Kawhi in scoring late in the game to outscore him by 3, 18-15
Alamo - February 4, 2012
Those points from Leonard were a welcome surprise. He looked like he really relished the challenge of playing Durant.
quincyscott - February 4, 2012
I believe it was a great confidence booster for him
hurts2bgood - February 4, 2012
What I think was the best about this game was that the thunder were in the top 5 scoring and we held them to 96
Manu-20 - February 4, 2012
Spurs are the 4th seed all of the sudden in this crazy ass season.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
Best win of the year so far?
quincyscott - February 4, 2012
I would say so
Manu-20 - February 4, 2012
Yes.

I can’t get too high off this win. Yes, I’m glad we beat them, but they were coming off a game against Memphis yesterday. It’s the exact same thing that happened to the Spurs in that first visit to okc.
Jordan Leithart - February 4, 2012 via mobile
Party pooper. Don’t be a turd. :P
CapHill - February 4, 2012
They were definitely tired, still, they are one of the youngest teams in the league, and they are also the same squad that won 3 games in three nights.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
OKC was on their 3rd win in 3 days in that game.
Alamo - February 4, 2012
We were also burying the threes, OKC was giving us a lot of open looks.
silverandblack_davis - February 4, 2012
We just beat the team with the best record in the west. I dont care if non of their starters started or if they played in nights in a row. This was a great win. They came out on fire.
hurts2bgood - February 4, 2012

Big50 - February 4, 2012

Tony dominated Fisher.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
day_late_friend - February 4, 2012
The Spurs are doing as good as they could have possibly hoped without Manu. They are only 3 games behind Oklahoma for the top West seed, all without their best player. This is terrific !
alamobro - February 4, 2012
While our young guys have been given opportunity.

I only got to see the end of the 3rd quarter to the end of the game, anyone have any insights into how Blair has been fairing the last few games?
Final Frame - February 4, 2012
His defense seems to be better, but his offense has fallen off.
CapHill - February 4, 2012
Take it all in guys, the grueling rodeo trip now looms. Even then, there are only 2 segababas on the 9 game trip and several lengthy rest times, with two periods of 2 days rest and a 6 day mini-vacation at the trips conclusion.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
I’ve read that Manu is doing shooting drills think he can be ready by the end of the month?
Final Frame - February 4, 2012
he’s looking on track. just hope they don’t bring him back too soon, make sure he gets fully healed.
sleep research facility - February 4, 2012
No idea, I am expecting they will hold him out close to the full 6 weeks.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
Didn’t realize the schedule was that favorable (relatively). Need to kick butt on the RRT.
CapHill - February 4, 2012
Here a video of Kevin Love stepping on Scola’s face. Seems intentional to me.
Edg5 - February 4, 2012
damn, it sure was intentional. Should get suspended
spursfan87 - February 4, 2012
hmmm….it looks less egregious than it sounds to me.
sleep research facility - February 4, 2012
Looks intentional.
day_late_friend - February 4, 2012
Sure does look intentional. On the other hand, who knows if Scola had it coming.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
Scola did throw the ball at KLove’s junk the last game they played. It wasn’t intentional and he apologized, though.
Edg5 - February 4, 2012
love has supposedly apologised to scola (at least according to someone on twitter)
sleep research facility - February 4, 2012
It looks bad but Love doesn’t strike me as a dirty player. Scola had flopped on the two plays leading up to that one so he was probably angry and let his emotions get the best of him.
Edg5 - February 4, 2012
Well, that and that whole zinging a basketball at his nuts thing. =P
alamobro - February 4, 2012
lol….It looked about as unintentional as Loves stomp of Scolas face. Love hurts.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
HA! Love hurts…good one.
Big50 - February 4, 2012
You obviously don’t know Scola. Stand up guy, definitely not someone that would injure another player on purpose.
LatinD - February 4, 2012
Had it coming? What the heck? He’s a great guy, and certainly didn’t have anything like that coming.
LatinD - February 4, 2012
I know he is from your homeland, but it looked to me like he aimed that ball directly at Loves crotch. ( I am sure Scola probably is a great guy, by the same token, Love appears to be a good guy as well)
Who knows, maybe Scola was himself provoked. I am not questioning anyones stand-upness here, just making a comment on observation. To be fare, I would be extremely pissed off if someone slung a ball at my jewels, whether it was intentional or not.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
Yes, he is from my country. I have seen him play for many, many years, ever since he was basically a kid. He never got into a fight, never hurt anyone. I don’t even remember seeing a flagrant from him. He’s not perfect, but he’s definitely not someone that would aim a shot at another player’s ball.
The two choices are: a) he tried to hit Love somewhere in his body, to bounce the ball off court and get it back, and missed; b) he deliberately tried to hurt Love. I am completely certain that a) is right – just as I would be if Manu was in the same situation.
I might be pissed if someone slug a ball at my jewels. I would not step on his face. Duncan would not step on his face. Manu would not step on his face.
LatinD - February 4, 2012
Robinson would not step on his face, either.
LatinD - February 4, 2012
Tebow would not step on his face.
Kondor - February 5, 2012
Hahaha. Clown.
alamobro - February 5, 2012
I cant say what happened. I do not know either participant in this series of exchanges, nor the totality of their dealings. I just saw the videos was all. I do not know what I would do if placed in the same situation. But I digress from this pointless argument. I come in here to read cool stuff, talk to cool people and root for the Spurs, not argue about silly things. Asi es que calmate, cuate. Somos del mismo equipo.
alamobro - February 5, 2012
I don’t know why you think I’m mad, or agitated, or whatever. You read too much into my mild “what the heck”. I was just giving you arguments as to why I didn’t think Scola “had it coming”. And then I explained that your justification as to why Love would have a reason to do that was fundamentally flawed. But I’m not mad.
LatinD - February 5, 2012
Understood. Apparently I have always had a difficult time gauging emotional intent via text.
alamobro - February 5, 2012
that’s disrespek
TDzilla! - February 4, 2012
To be fair, he stomped on his chest, not his face. But, yeah, it was on purpose.
quincyscott - February 4, 2012
So after making their big trade for Carmelo and signing Amare and Tyson Chandler, the Knicks were led in scoring by Jeremy Lin claimed off of waivers.
Alamo - February 4, 2012
So apparently Westbrook said something to TP at the beginning of the game, and TP got mad
spursfan87 - February 4, 2012
Pop should play that for Tony before each game.
CapHill - February 4, 2012
Thank you, Westbrook. Keep it going, man.

LAKERS LOSSSSSSSSSSSS
hurts2bgood - February 4, 2012
Poor lakers have no bench to speak of. Bet they wish they would have kept Odom.
Final Frame - February 4, 2012
He wanted out of LA. Otherwise they would have kept him.
Laker fans have been screaming for their GM to do something, but what is he supposed to do? Getting past the Lakers big 3, the rest of the roster can’t be moved. The 3 MoHeatos are surrounded by Mike Miller, Mario Chalmers, Udonis Haslem, Shane Battier, and Norris Cole. Derek Fisher is no Chalmers, Troy Murphy is no Miller, “Metta World Peace” is no Haslem, Matt Barnes is no Battier, and Darius Morris is no Cole.
WaveOcean - February 4, 2012
He created that team. Why wouldn’t they be pissed?
LatinD - February 4, 2012
i suppose so
WaveOcean - February 4, 2012
The proble was that they didn’t get anything back for Odom. It was a net loss. If that trade exception gets them a good player or two they’ll be back to being a contender.
Edg5 - February 4, 2012
*problem
Edg5 - February 4, 2012
Kobe is no LeBron. Gasol is no Wade. Bynum is no Bosh. Brown is no Spoelstra. Kupchak is no Riley. Seems to me that the Lakers are no Heat, at least for now.
Kondor - February 5, 2012
…Brown is no Spoelstra? You lost me there.

day_late_friend - February 4, 2012
This team really feels different, it will be interesting to see if the immense improvement of the teams wing and guard play can offset the loss of Antonio McDyess.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
Also we loss Dice, but we are pretty much gaining Splitter
spursfan87 - February 4, 2012
No denying that, its just that Dice was a cagey one on one defender. Sure, Randolph still killed us, but if not for Dice,Z-Bo might have averaged 35 ppg.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
I agree, but I still mad that Pop didnt play Splitter more last season. By the end of the season it was clear that he was a better option than Blair.
spursfan87 - February 4, 2012
The way Bonner is playing, I’m okay with a playoff rotation of Duncan/Splits with Bonner and splash of Blair.
MiniMegaMoose - February 4, 2012 via mobile

spursfan87 - February 4, 2012

sleep research facility - February 4, 2012
Did they at least show ample highlights of Parker lighting Westbrook up?
alamobro - February 4, 2012
No, they should the westbrook tip in dunk, the record breaker assist and a tear drop.
spursfan87 - February 4, 2012
they show
spursfan87 - February 4, 2012

Manu-20 - February 4, 2012
Well screw them. You ain’t changin’ who you are.
WaveOcean - February 4, 2012
The Thunder (18-5) narrowly averted their worst loss this season, while the convincing win was just the springboard San Antonio needed before spending next three weeks on the road — where the Spurs have hardly been as dominant. BSPN
cuentaluis1 - February 4, 2012
That actually sounds pretty accurate.
alamobro - February 4, 2012
They are not lying.
Kondor - February 5, 2012

day_late_friend - February 4, 2012
What a nice win. And I missed it.
LatinD - February 4, 2012
Pff.
quincyscott - February 4, 2012
It was a good win. I think they really turned a corner during the second half of that Dallas game. They have looked like a much better team since then, more confident on offense, tougher on defense.
quincyscott - February 4, 2012
That’s why Pop stuck with the bench in the most crucial part of that game.
WaveOcean - February 4, 2012
I know some folks questioned that decision, but the team is responding.
quincyscott - February 4, 2012

New Orleans (without Jack, no less) is a “legit team”?
Who do you consider illegit?
doggydogworld - February 5, 2012
5-0 when I go to the games this season! Woohoo!
Great win! Now, time to bring the winning ways on the RRT! GO SPURS GO!!!!
Marky G - February 5, 2012
We need to all chip in and get you season tickets so we can win out then. : )
Tony murdered Westbrook tonight. Made me proud to be one of his defenders. He should’ve been in All Star consideration before this game and if he wasn’t the coaches are most definitely paying attention now.
Timmy looked solid tonight which is great to see and Leonard was knocking down shots
GO SPURS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gunnin' gervin - February 5, 2012
+1 Million! :D
I still got a few more games left that I’ll be going to, so hopefully they’ll continue winning. Maybe I should have gone to that Kings game. Then, they would still be perfect at home.
Marky G - February 5, 2012
And I agree, PARKER SHOULD BE AN ALL-STAR! If he doesn’t get picked, I’ll be ticked off.
Marky G - February 5, 2012
Monsieur Parker es tres magnifique!
We got the Thunder this time! Argh!
It looks like they are ready for the Rodeo Roundup…
eastbaysd - February 5, 2012
And just like that, the Spurs are the number 3 seed in the west, without Manu Ginobili. This team is going to be beasting when he comes back.
alamobro - February 5, 2012
Sometimes is just interesting (not surprising) how the spurs keep flying under the radar
cuentaluis1 - February 5, 2012
This is different though, they are doing it without their best player. This might turn out to be the best Spurs team of the last 4 or so years. ( Though the defensive rating doesnt really say that, but theres time to improve on that horrible number)
alamobro - February 5, 2012
if you correlate between The top 5 in the west and Top 5 in the east
WEST
1 Thunder = 95.13 Points Allowed thanks to us Rank 14
2 Clippers = 96.95 Rank 24
3 Spurs = Rank 13th Points Allowed 93.92
4 Denver = 99.33 Rank Rank 26
5 Utah = 96.77 Rank 23
*So Right now, if we talk about the TOP 5 in the west we are the best defensive team
EAST
1 Bulls = 88.50 Points Allowed Rank 3
2 Miami = 95.83 Points Allowed Rank 18
3 Sixers = 86.50 Rank 1
4 Pacers = 90.74 Rank 4
5 Hawks = 91.13 Rank 8
cuentaluis1 - February 5, 2012
If you were to look at the worst offensive teams, a number of them are in the East and have been the opponents of the top defensive teams it the East. At this point it’s questionable as to whether some of teams at the top on defense are only there because they’ve played so many bad offensive teams. Orlando for instance has only the 8th ranked offense with an average of 92.17 points, and they scored only 83 in their game against the Spurs. Orlando’s played Indiana 3 times twice scoring 85 and once scoring 102. They scored 83 against the Bulls and only 69 against Philadelphia. The Spurs have had about 4 games against the bottom 12 offensive teams, whereas Philly has had about 12 games against them.
Alamo - February 5, 2012
I tend to also take point differential into consideration. A team like the Thunder may give up 95, but they score 100, one of the top three offenses in the league, so they are still +5 against their opponents.
Also, if you look at opponent’s shooting percentage, the Spurs are not where they want to be, although they are slowly getting better. We are still in the bottom third of the league in that category.
quincyscott - February 5, 2012
It’s easier to build up a nice point differential when you’re playing against weak opponents than it is when you’re playing against the better teams in the league. Things tend to even out more when you get deep into the schedule. Let’s see if the Spurs point differential changes much after playing Detroit, Toronto and New Jersey.

This is great stat, I love it.
