The West leading Thunder arrive to the AT&T center to take on a tired Spurs ball club. While the Spurs have shown some life as of late (most notably starting with the Dallas game) they've often shot themselves in the foot at the beginning of the game by digging themselves into a huge hole. Hopefully this changes tonight against the Thunder.

The Thunder have been one of the league's best road teams this season, with 9 wins and 3 losses. It's appropriate then that they clash against the Spurs who currently have the best home record in the league with 12 wins and 1 loss. Who will prevail? Well at this point it's up to whichever starters show up to play. If I'm honest though, the Thunder are in the same boat as the Clippers, where they haven't played as many games as the rest of the league. They've played 21 games to the Spurs 24, and only have 4 back to backs so far (a gift from the NBA schedule gods) with Saturday being the tail end of their 5th. By contrast, the Spurs have played 8 back to backs and still hold the 3rd best record in the West.
In the first meeting between these two teams, the Spurs had just beaten Denver the night before and landed in OKC where the Thunder are sitting pretty at 8-1. That would be a tough trip for any team, not just the Spurs who suffer from severe SEGABABAnitis. This time, the tables are turned and the Thunder arrive after playing (what we hope) is a hard fought game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Keys to Winning the Game:
1. Leonard (hopefully he'll start) has to keep his hands up when guarding Durant.
2. Splitter has to dominate
3. Make Westbrook take ill-advised shots.
4. Good help defense. (did you know that the Thunder are currently sitting at 25th in assists per game? That means a lot of isolation basketball which the Spurs are renowned for stopping).
5. Rebounding. The Thunder are among the best in the league at rebounding the ball. We need to box them out

The Thunder have some of the most talent 1-8 in the league. I honestly have them pegged as the prime contender for the NBA crown this year. They have long frontcourt players who excel at defense, and a plethora of back-court players who can dominate any given night. The trick for them will be Westbrook not thinking he's player A and realizing he's Robin to Durant's batman.
NBA Stats Cube Lineup Comparison Here. Thunder perspective can be found here: Welcome to Loud City
Game Prediction:
With all that being said, I think that we pull this one out, on the strength of our 3-point shooting. With a lineup consisting of Bonner and Splitter, I can see the bench dominating just because Ibaka will have trouble fighting his desire to block every shot. Spurs by 5.
As always Tony must dominate Fisher, and NBA league pass is recommended for those who are willing to pony up the cash. Almost every Spurs game will be broadcast there, which is especially helpful for those of us who aren't in the San Antonio area. Please don't post links to illegal game feeds in the game thread. Links to illegal feeds are not permitted on SBNation, but you can probably find them out there on the internets if you're resourceful and desperate.

Nice job, JL.
I’m looking for Timmy Duncan to have another vintage game tonight.

I don’t really expect Leonard to be able to shut down Durant, at best he can slow him down a bit, but I do hope that the rest of the Spurs shut down the rest of the Thunder. Dare Durant to try to beat them by himself. If that does happen, Leonard’s long arms will eventually tire him out and make him miss some shots later in the game.
anirontag - February 4, 2012
If you dare Westbrook to beat you with his scoring, does he not pass to Durant and try to beat you by himself?
Alamo - February 4, 2012
Our Jolly Green Giant must shut down Harden The 3rd part of the snake.
indiancharlie - February 4, 2012
We need Parker to mess with Westbrook psyche, tell him that NBA players from around the league are telling him that Durant is the heart of the Thunders and he’ll always be second banana. If that happens, Durant will never get the ball.
Outkastprince - February 4, 2012
Yeah, and he should add that Blair has a better 20 foot jump shot than Westbrook.

SPURS WIN! Maybe…. Theres no way Leonard Skynard can defend Durant so its all on Splitter tonight to score 20+ for us..
By the way, THIS is the dunk of all dunks:
RobertHorryRobertHorry - February 4, 2012
Has there ever been a role player in the history of the game, who made as many huge plays as Robert Horry?
alamobro - February 4, 2012
The ringmaster says… No.
indiancharlie - February 4, 2012

That man was unconscious when the game was on the line in the playoffs. Unreal performances in his illustrious career!
Trey Felder - February 4, 2012
As Manu’s right hand was cherring him on…Joey called a charge and Pop went into oblivion. (just joking)

Im looking foward to this game so much can not wait. First of all we see how TIago does agaisnt a good front court and also we will see if the spurs recent defensive imporvment over the last couple games will hold up today, we will see how the spurs bench fairs and what im really intrsted in seeing is how leonard hadnles durant he did a decent job the first time overall this is the biggest game the spurs have faced all year long
Manu-20 - February 4, 2012
Not to jinx or anything, but can we make a case for Splits getting the MIP?
ironm8 - February 4, 2012
Not happening. Too many other players on higher profile teams are having very good MIP years. Still, theres a lot of baskettball to be played.

NBA league pass question: Has anyone tried the NBA league pass MOBILE version?
I am too cheap to pay the $169+ for the TV version of league pass and this year it looks like the “broadband” version is $29.95 or $49.95 per month . . . depending. I see that there is a “Mobile” version for for iPhones/iPads or Android devices which is only $39.99 total. So has anyone here tried the mobile version yet?
lazNirv - February 4, 2012
Last time they met it seems like a lot of the damage was done by Harden and Collison. Tim and Tiago played much of the third quarter together, but the Spurs were outscored during the quarter by 16. Neal, Green and Anderson led a comeback attempt (though against the Thunder bench) when the Spurs were behind by 23 while losing by 12. Considering some of the success those three have had recently in leading comebacks, it might be nice to see how they would do earlier in the game.
Alamo - February 4, 2012
Yeah, I was thinking of that all game. Harden got 19, but had a +/- of -6, and Collison laid a goose egg. Spurs role players did a much better job this time around.
