Manu's Injury Not Serious, Neither Is Splitter's

Well, we can all breathe a sigh of relief now.

SAN ANTONIO (February 20, 2012) – Manu Ginobili was examined by team physician Dr. David Schmidt today in San Antonio. An MRI confirmed that Ginobili suffered a left internal oblique strain. The injury occurred during the second half of the Spurs-Clippers game on 2/18. Ginobili will remain in San Antonio for the remainder of the Spurs road trip. He is expected to be approximately two weeks.

Tiago Splitter has been diagnosed with a right calf strain. The injury occurred during the first half of the Spurs-Clippers game on 2/18. Splitter started his rehab process today in Salt Lake City and will remain with the team for the balance of the road trip. He is expected to miss approximately two weeks.

That's all we know at this point, but it's enough for me. You guys can call off the 24 hour surveillance of the Wilco household. I'm no longer a risk to myself or others. Manu Ginobili is going to be okay and the season will be able to continue as planned.

The sky is NOT falling and you can now return to your regularly scheduled lives. Really, it's going to be ok.

IRM?

Dyslexics are teople poo.

The joys of blogging: cutting and pasting from Twitter without looking at spelling, only to have the tweet you use Deleted by the user!

I’m getting careless in my old age.

Also, corrected now. And teople poo is my favorite.

I deleted the English tweet – was not comfortable with the source. You grabbed it really fast, so thanks for following us! But the Spurs have confirmed that the recovery time will be about two weeks, so I guess the strain is not all that serious.

You should know that my appetite for info on Manu is insatiable. So a twitter feed named @InfoManu is gonna be followed for sure!

IRM !

IRM is the french arrangement for MRI ! Maybe this mistake wasn’t relative to this disability.

The French come to the rescue!

Certainly that’s not the first time those words have been so ordered. Right?

It was said that it ill take two weeks for recovery

That’s INCREDIBLY encouraging. Thanks a ton for the update.

Do you have a source for us?

No, I mean something reliable that I can use.

(thanks)

Hope Jalberto got the joke!

Me too. Hopefully the smiley face will make it easier to note the sarcasm.

Spurs are the source of the 2 week recovery time – strained interior oblique Tiago’s time also estimated at 2 weeks, which means he may miss the rookie/soph all star game.

2 weeks for Manu and Sparkles according to multiple sources

So, is anybody telling how much time they are expected to miss? I am nervous. Even more important, how many games Manu is expected to play after he is back?

JWR, FYI -—Tim C. is still in the bushes.

?

I think he’s talking about the “surveillance of the Wilco household” thing.

But why would I watch from outside? FYI, you’re out of milk and should buy more.

That was pretty funny.

Good news. I guess Manu could use another couple weeks of rest/rehab. Now if we can just find out about Splits.

I think that since he’s with the team, that he isn’t in that bad of shape.

Two weeks for Splitter as well – rehab being done with the team on the road, according to Spurs team report to the media.

Not too bad. It helps that the all-star break is coming up.

Forget Manu and Tiago—I’m just glad I don’t have to worry about JRW’s sanity anymore ;)

Forget Super Manu and SEXSPLOTS?

NEVAR!

I still think “exploits” when I see Tiago’s nickname.

That works.

exploit
n [ˈɛksplɔɪt]
a notable deed or feat, esp one that is noble or heroic.

He’s my hero.

He must be named Splitter for a reason.
split
1. to divide or separate from end to end or into layers: to split a log in two.
2. to separate by cutting, chopping, etc., usually lengthwise: to split a piece from a block.
3. to tear or break apart; rend or burst: The wind split the sail.

4. To rend asunder the fibers of the calf resulting in a fortnight’s rest.

Not to be selfish or anything, but I hope they’re both back for the next home game (since I have tickets;) Get well soon, ManGo, and GSG!!!!!

My intuition tells me you may see them both play. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

LWMaT is going to be tough. i was really hoping to see how we would stack up against chicago the first game after the ASG and a couple other playoff teams. im more dissapoitned in losing tiago than manu right now, and makes me question if we can rely on tiago to give us 25+ mins in the playoffs. and this means less time for manu to come back to his A game (which we need if we want to contend and not lose in the first/second round)

6 Games in the next 2 weeks
Utah, Portlant, Denver, Bulls, Bobcats, Denver

It could be a difficult 2 week ride.

The obvious challenges are Portland and Chicago. —-Hopefully Alderage’s ankle and the Blazers current home woes continue. Also that Rose isn’t at 100%.

I bet we will split with Denver, and beat Utah and Charlotte.

a realistic prediction is 3-3 with our front court at a disadvantage.

3-3 in the next 3 games sounds realistic
I predicted 9-0 in the RRT … i still with my bet

anyone know if danilo and nene will be back for the denver games? theyre much better with those two.

I was just wondering about Nene myself

He didn’t play the first time we took them on.

We’ll see.

Danilo and Nene did not play last night – Danilo was suited out, but Nene was on the inactive list..

Ty Lawson also went out last night with an ankle sprain. And the Nuggets have to play the Clippers in LA the night before they play us at their place. Our guys should be safe in their beds by the time the Nuggets arrive back home.

I hope this wont regress Tiago’s post development.

It has come a long way all season and he has become more fearless in the paint. There should be enough tune up games for him before game really count, but it still concerns me alittle.

not only his progress, but he made life a lot easier for parker, and esp. neal.

After the RRT ends Feb.23… we only play 5 games in the next 17 days.(only 2 of those are western conf.Denver & Clipps). The point is: we are not going to get hurt in the standings.

After the Denver game Mar. 4, there are 26 games in 7 weeks left in the regular season.

Yup. The stretch run is as brutal as can be.

TJ Ford

Has there been an update on how Ford is recovering? The original 4-6 weeks would have put him coming back right about now.

I had read this weekend that he was playing 1 on 1. 2 on 2 next. Supposedly looking good against Cujo on those 1on1’s.

I don’t mind taking a few losses and get bumped down in playoff seeding . We gotta steer clear of the T-Wolves.

This times infinity.

Yep. Spurs should want no part of the Pups in the postseason. Everyone else, I think the Spurs have a good chance against, but that team kills us every time they play us.

Now you’re making me wonder — No, it’d be about like Memphis was last year. Tough, physical and draining.

Ugh, I don’t want to think about it.

good news abounds, gsg!
