If I had gone to this game, we probably would have lost.

more important question is whether we would have two our guys out?

I seriously hope not. From the onset, it didn’t look serious.

it will be pretty bad if we lose out on Manu and Splitter…

I didn’t really see what happened, but having them both in the locker room doesn’t sound good

MVP of the game@!

D’aaaaamn two guys over 300???

LatinD missed out on first

Take that LatinD!!!

I’m onto you. *deadly glare

You must feel a little bit like the Clippers right now, bro.

I wonder if it was overtime that got me that win

That’s Korean Komics Kurse for you

Racist.

Oops, I meant Corean Comics Curse

LATIND DEMANDS A RECOUNT

Who needs FT? They just make the game easier.

Jordan must’ve slipped Josh some money.

he’s my facebook friend now :P

Apparently it’s impossible to study and watch a spurs game

Where are all LatinD’s posts?

I only wanted to prove that there’s a black hand behind this system.

Racist?

Eh, I think he was kidding.

No, I just take every possible opportunity to call LD a racist

He’s xeonophobic

I sure dont remember seeing many..

And I thought I was doing well… 300 wow

They have clones

2 monitors actually… that’s pretty much why

WOW

And people talk about me posting a lot.

You remain undefeated in my book, GG.

I’ll take bronze I guess, but still..

Jumbaco!!!
That was an amazing game!!
I hope Manu and Tiago are ok!
Oh…and i would also just like to say…

Gary Mothereffffinnggg Neal!!!!!!!!

I think 277 might be my most ever.

haha poor Latin D

I love this game but pop is not going to sleep well tonight because timmy play 40 minutes

I’m not sleeping too well with Tiago out

I thought I was gonna win it.

Ok, someone please explain in detail what happened with both Manu and Splitter……..

Splitter is out with a calf strain… could be up to 3 weeks

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

They already diagnosed him that quickly….?

No, but most calf strains are 3 weeks

and yes, they know he has a calf strain

HAHA! read my mind

Manu just never showed up in the second half

Damn my season high is only good for 8th place

My season high was only good for 12th.

I broke 100 for the first time in my career. I think, I won once the lowest scoring roll call in PtR history with 88.

We just won with the following like-up:
Tony-Green-Neal-Duncan-Bonner

No Splits and No Manu and we actually won against the Clips!

And Bonner rocked.

In my opinion, this is Bonner’s best season as a Spur. I know his numbers are not as impressive, but he is playing better defense and getting boards. Hats off to Coach B.

He is playing really well all around now.

He plays smart. Imagine if he had even half the athletic abilities of Blair who doesn’t use his body well.

Yeah i’ve said that a few times. Or he at least had longer arms lol

yeah, if he had Leonard wingspan, he’d actually be pretty good. his slowness actually helps him stay out of over committing and not easily fouling.

if he had Blair athletic abilities he would be Kevin Love

if blair would watch how Love boxes out….

Agreed. This is the best I have ever seen him play. Hes not shooting the highest percentage of his career, but hes letting it fly in situations he never used to , and making alot of them.

his 4th Q shooting % from 3pt is pretty good according to stats cube.

I like the like-up.

take that Blake Griffin!

By the way, guys. Korean comic = epic.

We did lose the 2nd half though

only if overtime isn’t considered 2nd half

Overtime is clearly not the 2nd half.

No more flying under the radar.

We’re are hearing Manu Ginobili got hurt tonight….will update the condition on Spurs Live..Manu didn’t not play down the stretch

I hope he’s ok, and Tiago too

Im not worried, they should be fine.

……………..

didn’t not play…

hmmmm…

So he did play…?

We dont know anything about tiago until they really check him out.
Manu is fine, Pop is just overprotecting him (as he should)

exactly since they don’t play till Monday

Did you see the play where Many got hobbled…..?? I missed just about the whole game.

I would be more confident if he stayed on the bench …

This game was awesome. Showed that my team can win any game

What a game. That was a lost cause, and again Neal with the miracle.

Yeah I already posted my “Good thing I didn’t go to this game”….

Good job you. You are the MVP of the game.

Clips announcers learned how not to call a game when it’s not yet over.

NJ about to beat the Rose-less in Chicago.

fairly well crushed them too.

Red Panda after Neal tying three.

Splitter out for a little while? This sucks…..

Don’t believe what they say. There’s no official diagnoses yet for both Tiago and Manu.

Anyway, guys, I’m gonna try to enjoy the rest of my Sat. This was a great game. Thanks for sharing, and Jordan, I’ll get you the next time.

(You’re welcome, Spurs. *puts Korean mojo back into his backpack and walks away into the setting sun.)

it was the korean comics all the time…

Walks into the sunset? Did the Fiesta break down already….?

indeed you will… see you later

Start the PF/C search post now. Now we need 2 rotation bigs signed.

I posted this during the game thread

Free Agent Bigs

Centers

Ajinca, Alexis
Armstrong, Hilton
Dampier, Erick
Fesenko, Kyrylo
Gadzuric, Dan
Mbenga, DJ
Przybilla, Joel
Ratliff, Theo
Thomas, Etan

Power Forwards

Allen, Malik
Songaila, Darius
Powe, Leon
Powell, Josh
Jackson, Darnell
Dorsey, Joey
Diogu, Ike
Smith, Joe
Elson, Francisco

I’ll take Przybilla if he’s healthy.

Elson already knows the system. Etan Thomas is big, and Fesenko is young.

He already said he was only considering the Heat.

Gadzuric is decent, meh

He’d fit in well. Anything to reduce Blair’s minutes during Tiago’s time off is a good thing. And Bonner/Blair

Blair had a good game tonight I thought.

He was -20 at one point. He ended at -17. He got some easy baskets, but good things didn’t really happen when he was in. That’s why Pop went to RJ and Leonard at the 4 over Blair. It’s a reason why he only played 16:48 in an OT game. And that’s without Splitter playing more than 5 minutes. Duncan played 41 min. Bonner played 35 min

Spurs did better against Blake with Bonner than with Blair, for example.

Yeah, his +- was atrocious. I just liked that he created some offense for us when we struggled.

I don’t remember this

His positives outweigh his negatives. And that’s why his on court presence does not seem to help. Pop went to RJ and Leonard at the 4 because Blair was not helping much.

I do not compute most of your comments, grego

I said it wrong. negatives outweight his positives. I accidentally the order

Like he made a really good pass to Green, and Green missed the easiest shot of the game. He stole the ball and threw it away immediately.

Yes, he did those, but just about everyone on the team can find the open man. The team is so much more effective with him off the court, for just about every game. His on/off court numbers are worse this year than it was last year.

Yes, it doesn’t fit well into the team’s play. He is a complete anti-Bonner in almost every way.

racist

I would say that comment is very true without bringing up race at all…

Also 2 turnovers and 3 fouls in 16.5 minutes is a pretty bad rate. compare to Duncan with 0 at 41 minutes and Parker at 44.5 minutes.

Spurs did better against Blake with Bonner than with Blair, for example.

Well, Bonner is the +/- king. He is playing really well recently, and look at our wining streak. I always think that good Bonner = wins for our team.

I wasn’t even looking at Bonner’s +/-, but just watching the game, even though he’s not a solid one-on-one defender, he doesn’t do stupid things, so when the team comes with a hard double or triple team, he doesn’t foul and kill off the play. He also boxes out. My gosh, he boxed out Blake on an important rebound. I know if that was Blair, that would be a rebound for Blake or Blair would have fouled him.

Yeah, eyes closed. So easy. Cinchy….ppppffff

Fesenko is big and slow, he could become a decent Spur I would think. Etan Thomas is 6-10 and he was fighting with teammates in practice.

Why do I know the name Alexis Ajinca?

Also, I’d take Leon Powe, though we already have Blair

The list is outdated. I think Elson signed with the 76ers and Dampier with the Hawks. A number of players like Dorsey are playing overseas this year. Ike may be available, and I think Bobby Simmons is playing in the DLeague, but I don’t think it would help to sign either one. Malcolm Thomas might be worth bringing back, and the Toros two 6’9" forwards are also having good seasons.

Pop indicated that he’d likely play some more small ball for a few games, which might be all that Tiago misses if he misses any games.

This would be a good time for Thomas, who’d actually get some practice in and some play time.

It is probably is outdated, is from nba.com, they still had Martin as a FA and few other guys with current teams. I tried to edit it

A logical starting place, I just happened to have looked at pretty much the same list earlier this week and discovered most of the more interesting names already looked committed. Dorsey is playing with the Greek team Olympiacos, Ajinca for Strasbourg,Armstrong for Asvel and Darnell Jackson for Donetsk. Leon Powe may be available, but may not have fully recovered from ACL surgery. Many of the others are hanger-ons. On the other hand, Malcolm Thomas in his last 3 dleague games has played 94 minutes and scored 45 points on 21-28 shooting with 25 rebounds, 5 assists and 10 blocks. Bring him back and give him some minutes and you could have another Lin story.

Snealper

Almost hurt his game after missing those two free throws to seal it though.

yea … because you dont use a sniper to kill someone who is in front of you =/

SO Tiago, calf strain. But Manu?

he got DeAndre Jordan’d

Really? was it a flagrant?

no, it wasn’t. he didn’t even need to bump Manu.

mmm I’m confused

DeAndre kinda chucked him out of bounds…

Spurs boring … this game was fuckin awesome!!!

Wow, awesome game.

But Blair sucks (-17 today) and now it’s Duncan/Bonner. Spurs need to sign another big.

i hate to say this but …. the most probable thing to happen is Pop playing small ball with Kawhi at PF

Better than Blair.

even worse
Blair at C
Kawhi at PF

or bonner playing 35 minutes

Pop went with some Kawhi at 4 and RJ, over some Blair.

Actually, KLeo guarding Blake was what turned the game around in the first half

Kawhi did a nice job
But also blake doesnt know what to do when he is doubleteam or tripleteam

of course he does… he just dunks through ALL of them

Small ball is going to see more of Kawhi at the 4. Sad, but Blair might not gain more minutes even with Splitters out.

The Spurs HAVE to sign some now

Pop on Ginobili injury in rib area: think we lost him again."

FFFUUUUU!!!! Fuckin’ Jordan.

Deandre Jorden is DEAD TO ME.

Yikes. I seriously hope it’s not serious.

I think CIA Pop is at work. Maybe.

This just ruined my Sat.

Ribs? Is he trying for a record for most injured body parts in a career…???

Starts counting

Ran out of fingers

I’m so pissed that I can’t even pretend to be happy

DeAndre Jordan has begun the formation of my list

This is me after waking up 4:30am to watch an awesome game

.
Now back to sleep. ’Night fellas.

Great game to show up for!

just dropping in to say
I F**KING LOVE GARY NEAL!

Fuck the Clippers

by Manuwar on Feb 18, 2012 6:29 PM EST reply actions

this

It was a gem left out in game thread purgatory. It had to be said.

fuck the spurs!

seriously why do you have to say fuck the clippers for?

it’s just basketball, get a life!

Mostly it’s cause they looked like thugs out there by playing a physical style of basketball that’s only allowed because they’re the darling franchise this year

Shit we were more physical than they were. LMAO that is a big reason there ass lost the game. Blake Griffin was crying for fouls like crazy.

Agreed. Cursing is expected in the heat of the moment, but let’s all try to chill out in the aftermath. It is just basketball.

I hope Manu and Tiago are okay.

Amazing game..

I’m watching on a laptop at my friends comic book shop, and when Neal made that I jumped up yelling YEAAAAAHHHH everyone in the shop staring at me.

Well that was immensely enjoyable…

The Clippers are a good young team and beating them on their homecourt in the midst of a long road trip is something to be proud of. SA kept getting in its own way, free throws readily come to mind, but I’ll take it.

And what exactly to the Clippers have to do to get a technical foul called against them? Kenyon Martin’s antics alone are a 48-minute bitchfest and guys like Griffin, Jordan, Butler and Foye were being plenty demonstrative as well. They get a lot of leeway.

Also beat them without Splitter and Manu.

Now I gotta go be slightly productive the rest of the afternoon..

Good weekend all.

GARY MOTHERFUCKING ICE IN VEINS NEAL

Paul to Neal for three…

Assist of the game

lol, maybe NBA.com makes it assist of the night

Karma at its best

RT @spurs: Manu Ginobili suffered a strained left oblique muscle in the second half of today’s game.

SO he is ok, not that bad.

Is that Bonner?

Is this actually Manu?

Yes, he lost all his skin

It's mainly used

in twisting the torso, gives stability, allows change of direction skills

Doctor in the house?

resident, does that count?

Works for us here! So how long do you think these injuries take?

it depends. It’s mostly seen in baseball players. Those tend to take months and sometiem require surgery. For a guy like Manu? Two weeks?

But you did stay at a Holiday Inn, no?

That’s definitely not a rib, and not dreadful

Manu is so durrable…

way to turn my pessimism to optimism

Time to go do chores and be in denial about Manu…..

at the moment, Splitter is the bigger loss. :(

Pop’s hair looks kinda green…

He was Hulking

love it when he does that!..

Manu Ginobili suffered a strained left oblique muscle

Any Doctors in tha house for a quick analysis?

No Doctors, but muscles take as long as bones to heal, sometimes longer.

We totally could have used Kenyon Martin. Too bad he decided to waste his season by going to the Clippers.

Pretty sure I don’t want that guy on my team.

I am sure many said that about Bruce Bowen.

My DOG is sleeping in the living room. Im sleeping with my Neal ball tonight. My gf said it would than be me on the couch with the ball then, BUT I DONT CARE!

So anyone know how bad manu and tiagos injurys are?

ERICK DAMPIER!!!!

Im going to vomit now

To give 10 minutes of rest to timmy i can live with that

What about Eric Dampier?!!?

IS he signed?! already?!

No, just a suggestion

Oh, man. Gotta use a complete sentence next time!

He’s signed with the Hawks.

Dream Over! :(

lol

honstley at this point we are desparte enough to try it I wont like it but wouldnt mind it cant have just a 3 big roatation

Bah humbug. BBL

ESPN, if you’re reading this I know you guys have to fluff Blake Griffin on every available opportunity and he had a lot of dunks today. But there’s this guy on the Spurs. Gary Neal. He did something really dramatic today in the fourth quarter.

Neal can haz play of the day? Plz? kthxbai

Meanwhile, Kris Kardashian beat the Rose-less Bulls

Gregory Popovich @FakeCoachPop
Manu injured again. Perhaps if I call him a China doll we might get some media coverage.

5 bucks says Ford comes back early and we bring in another big in the next 24-48 hours.

Pop says in postgame presser answer for losing Splitter probably ends up being more small ball.

More Leonard and RJ at the 4. Sadly, more time for Blair too. :(

This is like a dream for Pop, he finally got an excuse to play more small ball!

Depending on the opponent, this may not be such a bad thing.

Utah, is a team Blair does against. Portland will not be easy without the size. At least LA is out at the moment. Denver, perhaps…

Chicago on the 29th, no way

Portland is missing Aldridge, though, right?

Malcolm thomas!!

Or any of the other bigs from Austin.

Luke Bonner?

Well, who knows, there might be a Bonner/Bonner front line. That would really mess with the scouting report.

I would love to see it.

It would be like Bonner-Novak

Novak is lighting it up in NY with Lin. I think he just needed a chance. ;)

No, it would like Bonner-Bonner

I think the Warriors would be willing to trade Andris Biedrins to you guys for a draft pick

For a draft pick? Seriously? I thought Biedrins wasn’t bad.

You’re right – he’s terrible

You guys hate him

Well, he’s good for six fouls

He used to have the highest FG% in the NBA. Of course, the Ws play no team game, so it’s really hard to say whether he can play or not.

He dogs it every night. He’s never been the same after missing all those FTs. He plays scared.

Low FT% is considered to be a plus for the Spurs. And Pop somehow convinced Bonner that he belongs to the NBA, so he can do wonders with underachievers.

So… two draft picks then

how about a conditional 2nd round pick and we’ll throw LatinD in there as a Bonus

Cool we’ll have him do menial labor

I dont know
Hoopstats:
A high-energy player… Very good athlete… Good shot blocker… Good rebounder… Runs the floor well… Not much offensive game… Terrible from the charity stripe… Has regressed in the last few years… Lacks confidence.

It’s his paycheck more than anything.

Paul to Neal is one of the most epic Spurs plays. Instant classic

I was watching on a little screen and at first I had no idea what happened.

i started screaming like a crazy person. my gf was looking at me like i was insane…..i might have been at that moment thoughst

Just she give you that look often?

thankfully not, but love makes you do crazy things…..LOVE FOR THE SPURS!

I want Illyasis from the bucks.

Illyasova?

Ricky Bobby: “Bingo”

I would love for him to be on our team

Just give Oberto a call, it would be for a few game hopefully

Anybody know what is the scoop on Splitter?

Ginobili took "two vicious blows and was still trying to come back".

What’s this, boxing?

--

So it’s a fake injury?

Right. He was just flopping.

I was implying that wrestling is fake

YOU TAKE THAT BACK!

I was actually making reference to the flopping discussions from this past week.

At least Jordan would fight someone his own size then

Oh my. We won? Didn’t expect that. The game was just too early for me to watch. :(

Don’t worry, we represented the Flips well.

Apparently, Atenistas are really good at waking up early.

Hindi kasi masyado nag-aaral. He-he.

Dami kayang Atenista nag-aaral kaninang madaling araw sa may McDo Katipunan. :)

+/- of the Decade

Tony Parker +14

CP3, All-Star starter -20

Trade him for Tony

I wonder if Steve Nash is still available….LMAO

It’s sad how he’s trapped in Phoenix

-17 for Blair. You know you are bad when you are beating Blair.

Lowry + Dragic: Check
Westbrook: Check
Chris Paul: Check

whos next? Derrick Rose

his old nemesis Devin Harris

His kryptonite.

I just heard that TD will replace Aldridge at the ASG – is that true?

Where you heard it?

what’s the source?

It’s Aldridge’s first ASG, he would have to be dead for him not to go

Read on Twitter that the pain on his ankle is subsiding and he’s trying to play tonight.

OK, so Splitter has a calf sprain? Honestly, I don’t even know what that means. This according to ESPN.

It means if Pop plays it safe, he won’t play Monday and he probably won’t play for most of next week.

or he may not play until after ASB

he won’t play in Team Chuck

And Team Chuck has now lost.

gary neal has to replace him right?

sounds like he sprained his calf or something like that

I bet they meant “strain”.

Yep, we were saying strain in the game thread. For some perspective, Nene I think has a similar injury and has missed four games so far.

Dang Brazilian calf sprains strains!

So will Anderson play now?

Or more Neal minutes again (he’s better in smaller minutes). More bang for your buck, since his D is still pretty bad.

Anderson might someday see minutes again, with more practices available with the days off..

Not unless he grows up 10 inches or so.

You know, this isn’t a bad time for Manu and Tiago to miss some games. We only play 6 games in the next 3 weeks. ASB is coming up. And it gives guys like Anderson and whichever big we sign a chance to steal RJ’s minutes

The problem is the Spurs depth up front is weak. They need some more size for the Chicago game. Against Portland, they might be able to get away with it minus LA. Denver is probably small enough though.

so you eat a loss to Chicago. Maybe someone like Malcolm Thomas can come in and actually give the Spurs some minutes/steal Blair’s minutes

Give Duncan the night off at Chicago and just play Blair the entire 48 minutes

Maybe he’ll lose some weight..

water weight

Deep Dish Pizza weight.

pizzeria due = awesome in Chicago btw

yes, we should totally tank the Chicago game

Playing backups only equals tanking for mortal teams

Bring Luke Bonner in and play Blair-Bonner with another Bonner. Chicago will cry.

So will women and children in third world countries

Imagine the spacing on the floor. one guy 10 feet off the 3pt line. Open shots all night. Money!

No!! Y’all don’t even suggest it…I just got tix to the CHI game for a friend’s b’day present! GSG!!!!!

Didn’t we just witnessed the rise of NILsanity?
Which is just way too close to LINsanity

Gary Neal has been good ever since he stepped in this league

The sad truth that if Lin was playing for the spurs noone would care even if he was the second coming of Magic

If Lin was playing for the Spurs, Pop would have benched him 35 TOs ago

Yes actually he already has the record for Most turnovers in his first 5 games or something like that

The Knicks = Popular team as hell

Knicks = popular team in purgatory

except on defense. That’s the only thing stopping him from taking more minutes from other guys

It’s always a bad time for Tiago and Manu to miss some games.

of course, but all things considered, it’s as good of a time as any

I would like them more to miss some games during the summer, if I had to choose.

Grading calf muscle strains

Muscle strains are graded from 1-3, with grade 1 being a minor tear, with up to 10% of fibres involved. A grade 2 tear involves up to 90% of the muscle fibres and a grade 3 is over 90% of fibres torn, or a full rupture. This usually occurs at the muscular tendinous junction or the achilles tendon itself.

Grade 1:

A twinge of pain in the back of the lower leg.
May be able to play on.
Tightness and aching in the 2-5 days after.
Grade 2

Sharp pain in the back of the lower leg.
Pain when walking.
There may be swelling in the calf.
Mild to moderate bruising.
Pain on resisted plantarflexion.
Tightness and aching for a week or more.
Grade 3

Severe immediate pain.
A sudden pain at the back of the leg, often at the muscular tendinous junction (see image below).
Inability to contract the muscle.
Considerable bruising and swelling.
In the case of a full rupture, often the muscle can be seen to be bunched up towards the top of the calf.

full rupture is very rare. Chances are it’s a grade 2

yeah, which hopefully won’t keep him out too long

I’m telling you, I expect us to be back at full strength post All-Star break: Tiago, Manu, and TJ.

if we could do that and then survive until the playoffs I would be a happy duck

Pray its a Grade 1 and takes one more game off

Listen to him this man’s a doctor

dentist don’t count

Morphine, do your thing!

Oblique injuries usually happen to pitchers, and it ends their season

NO!

Hey Zilla, aren’t you like in med school?

Relax, Manu isn’t a pitcher

cause a lot of pitching is rotational force with the upper body. Unless Manu plans on taking thousands of fadeaways, I don’t think it affects him nearly as much

from @InfoManu

Nice stretching exercise.

Okay this has to be said — CHAPS STILL UNDEFEATED!

I know everyone pronounces it Ch-Aps, but its really Sh-Aps. It sounds cooler too.

Pop has just declared that the Spurs are no longer and they have become the Chaps for the rest of the year.

Damn. I guess im going to have to buy a whole lot of new jerseys

How can Neals play not be on the front page of ESPN right now????

They don’t recognize San Antonio as part of the States, they know Boston,Chicago,Dallas,LA & NYC

the same reason why Marc Stein has Carlisle as the Coach of the Year – abject stupidity

says the doctor!

Spurs Aphasia – actually part of DSM V

This is gorgeous. I’ll be adding this to the quotes page during the next update.

No duh, Stein is from Dallas and openly roots for the Mavs.

The NBA…where Gary Neal happens!

What are the odds we have a healthy 100 % Manu by the post season now?

I’ll tell you in a few months

this shouldn’t set him back a lot. It makes the next 2 weeks more tenuous and delays his getting into game shape, but all in all, if he was going to be good for the playoffs before this injury, he should be good afterwards

Let’s not fly over our heads, just wait for the official timeline. If we keep calming ourselves down and it turns out he will miss a long time i’ll be devastated

Maybe Manu will LOSE 20LBS AND BE IN THE BEST SHAPE OF HIS LIFE, again, and be in the best shape of his life

As usual, we just pray for him to stay healthy.

Sweet Utah is playing Houston tomorrow night, and we play them on the end of the b2b. That will really help with Tiago out.

Time to exorcise some Bonner demons.

Matt Bonner played well!! Even on Defense! Even on Blake!

He’s having his best overall season. Blair has regressed.

This X10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Blair has regressed.

Yes

He no longer has to hit 3s to be effective. He is doing other things the team needs.

eh. He still has to hit some 3s to be effective. Let’s not get carried away

But he is. It does look like Chip has helped him get his release to be quicker.

He looks more confident, too. There was a shot he made late in today’s game. He had missed his previous shot. Tight game, on the road, in crunch time, and he takes a little extra time to get set, and nails it. That’s good to see from Bonner.

Yep. the OT 3 was big.

Lol, thank you.

I have been a critic of Bonner for a long time, but I have to say he is playing better this season. Of course the three ball is still his most important skill, but he is giving the Spurs other stuff now.

His improvements on defense are high biggest thing IMO. he’s made vast improvements there. His help D is really good.

Yes. And as much as we mock his shy-hook, it is a serviceable counter to his three.

He is closing out well on shooters, grabbing boards. Pop has to be please with him.

Now Jefferson and Blair, those are different stories…

The big thing with Blair, is he’s so limited that his versatility doesn’t work. he can only really play with Duncan and be somewhat effective.

Although RJ is frustrating, he’s serviceable. He’s average too often, but average is enough to keep him in games. He was able to play the 4 position a bit. Obviously, for what they pay, he should do more though.

Now would RJ get time if Neal was not such a horrid defender? Probably a lot less.

He played good today, but I’d wait to see how much of his betterment is due to playing with Splitter and also Duncan playing better this season than last.

He plays better with Duncan and Splitter, but he shows his improvement by not being as big a weakness. His off the dribble has improved over the past year to 2 years. he can now stop and pop or use that flip shot he has. On D, his help has been pretty solid. He boxed out Blake in a key rebounding play. That stands out a lot in my eyes.

Yes. And remember that play when Griffin got a dunk against him, and then Coach B. beat him down to the other end of the floor for a lay-up? I enjoyed that tremendously.

This type of play will come in handy for the post season. I’m guessing during the summer and once the lockout ended, he continued to work even harder on being run off the ball. It started about a year ago and looks like its coming full circle.

I find it funny how the Clippers are the third seed despite having Del Negro as their coach

They are third despite having Del Negro. Enough said. Imagine what they could do with a Pop or Carlisle.

Maybe Phil Jackson is planning a comeback…

Or Jerry Sloan

if Jerry Sloane clashed with Deron Williams, I can’t imagine him doing well with Paul and Griffin

I see it completely differently

CP3 is an ass on the court, but he’s a smarter player than DWill. Blake, seems like he’d get along with Sloan though.

I would be utterly shocked if Sloan ever coaches again.

I don’t think he will.

CP3 didn’t exactly get along well with Byron Scott, right?

I liked Blake a lot more when he wasn’t pulling an Amare Stoudemire every time he drove to the paint/was breathed on

Scott is overrated though. He lost his players in NJ as well, once his assistant left for Wizards (I can’t remember his name).

Eddie Jordan (who’s now coaching Freshmen high school teams in NY)

There you go. He isn’t a good head coach, but he’s a good assistant. He’s like PJ, for the Spurs.

apparently, pop invited him to help out the Spurs in the abridged TC

Someone called Blake out on his flopping earlier this year. I think it was Matt Barnes, I don’t remember. And yeah I think there was some bad blood between Cp3 and Scott

Not enough talent for phil jackson …he doesnt like challenge

Vinny gets all the blame on losses, CP Flop and Blake get all the credit on wins. Especially out her ein lala land

That’s because Vinny is a bad coach – he proved it in Chicago

Really? You watched that team closely?

Or are you just believing popular media outlets? Because as a Spurs fan you should know better than that…

I thought Vinny did a good job against us today. They did some things on defense that forced us to make adjustments. They weren’t just playing pickup ball out there, no matter what Simmons says.

He did occasionally, but they blew the game under his watch too. He has assistants as well But they are really bad compared to what they could be. Bulls still won with Vinny as well. But when it came time to take it to th enext level, he was not the guy

On the other hand, we got lucky with that last play in regulation. Clippers played good enough to beat us today.

Of course. I don’t blame that on Vinny. In no way am I saying he’s complete trash, but he’s not a good coach either. Spurs suffered more from missing Manu and Splitter. That and Bonner/Blair made its appearance again.

Spurs got really lucky, but also bad luck with two straight plays where they bobbled the pass. Neal made up for his, but RJ the play before pulled that too.

Well, he somehow blew a thirty or forty point lead to the Kings (a bad team)
He also got trashed by everyone in Chicago for bad rotations, a predictable offense, and bad coaching in general.
If you get trashed by the media and the fans – you’re a bad coach. No I didn’t watch all the games.

If you get trashed by the media and the fans – you’re a bad coach.

Because fans are so smart

I still wonder how he managed to blow that lead against the Kings. And by the way, the Bulls made the playoffs when he was coaching! And yet everyone hated his guts!

It’s not like ownership defended him, either – they let him go once his contract was up. Now the Bulls are the best team in the East.

Carlisle got ran out of Detroit and had a bad reputation too. Perception is sometimes completely different than reality, that’s all I’m saying.

Carlisle got shafted because of Larry Brown. There are few coaches who will do that, but Det jumped on Brown. Phil and Pop are other coaches. Pat Riley as well.

This is a good point. A lot of it has to do with the situation.

So far, Clippers are like the Bulls with Vinny. They are winning, but more because of talent than anything.

Except when they are losing. Then it’s not the talented player’s fault. It’s the coaches. Makes so much sense.

Oh, players are at fault too. I just don’t see Vinny over time doing much to put his team in another level. That said, most coaches in the league aren’t that good. It’s not like vinny is alone in his own bubble.

Sterling, as always cheaped out. This is where he cheaped out. When it comes time to paying all his players, he won’t as long as Blake and CP3 bring in the tickets.

I think he’ll just jack up the prices

Perhaps, but if history plays out as it has done consistently, he’ll maximize his margin and spend just as much to keep his profit as high as it is. Seriously, if Clippers were run by even Holt and company, they’d make so much money. Or if by Cuban, they’d spend a lot, but make a whole lot and win. I mean, Clippers and Lakers in LA. That would be huge.

They got lucky by drafting Blake, and then getting CP3, but we’ll see when the role players and everyone else needs to be traded.

Clippers fan

DTS has spent $ going back to Maggette and Brand…was vdn a cheap hire? Maybe, since the Bulls were partially paying for him when the Clippers picked him up…but calling DTS cheap when it comes to players, that’s not accurate in recent history.

He had to. Their payroll was very limited. They were falling under the baseline minimum. Sterling will pay a little bit, but that’s all. As long as he brings in enough talent to bring in the fans.

I can’t believe you’d defend Sterling. He’s the one guy who does not deserve to be defended. He’s slowed the Clippers progress through the years. He played at the Sports Arena for so long. that place is horrid.

I have nothing against the Clippers, but Sterling is everything that is wrong with the Clippers. Without him, they’d be much better.

Cheap he is. You have to have a minimum payroll, and he did at the time.

i hate the guy as much as the next guy

he’s just an ahole of a human being, but the guy has put up the money…BD got paid to eat Dunkin Donuts…

I thought BD got paid to be heckled :)

Or grow the hobo beard.

But you have to put up some money. He also does enough to bring in guys who will keep people in seats. But outside of that, his history speaks for itself. Thank goodness the NBA also has a penalty for spending too little, just like when you spend too much.

I really wish, the NBA would take the team away from him. I feel like Clipper fans could have had so much more if not for a better owner.

Good Night All!
Great Win!! GSG!!

The Linsanity and Novak are taking on the lakers.

??

Playing on ESPN right now.

Ah I see. I like it

I was fooled when I wrote it, thinking they were playing tonight. Doh. :)

what a way to start a morning! congrats spurs.

“Probably the worst play I’ve been a part of since I’ve been in the NBA.” —Chris Paul on the turnover

It was less his fault and more Ryan Gomes’ fault.

Even though Gomes put him in a bad position there’s no excuse to throw it towards your own basket. If he’s attempting to save a backcourt violation, then throw it into the front court. Paul fucked up. No way around that.

He should have taken the backcourt, as he admitted, so yes, he was better off doing that, but Gomes put him in the situation. Neither is innocent, but Gomes created the situation. This is why pop goes to Duncan to take the ball out at key moments. Smart passing makes a difference.

Nuggets center Nene will not play Sunday against the Thunder. He will miss his fourth straight game with a calf injury.

If he’s out and LA’s out, Splitter being out isn’t as painful.

Gomes cops to bad pass. Mea Culpa

Gotta feel a little bit for Gomes…here is a shot of his twitter page

Karma for not going to the Spurs when they tried to sign him 2 years ago!

Check out clippersnation.com gamethread

I think this sums up everything….

Gomes inbound again…

OMG GOMES IS PASSING IN

NO GOME NO

I have officially seen everything in the game of basketball.
I do not believe what I just saw.

I aw that too, haha. That’s a live gamethread at his best

Reminds me the nuggets vs the lakers in playoffs and the steal of trevor ariza
That happens when teams have no playoffs experience

Sorry I missed this game—sounds like I saved myself from some stress by doing so though lol. Great win! 10 in a row! Hope Manu and Tiago are ok though.

Hope Manu and Tiago are ok though.

AAAAAAAAAMEEEEEEEEEEEN.

How’d they get hurt? The Whirlwide Liter is being stingy with details :P

Manu got clobbered. I think Splitter just planted funny or something.

let me post it again

Tiago

Manu

" Spurs assistant Don Newman said Manu took "two vicious blows" and was still trying to come back. Newman was talking to Bill Schoening on the Spurs radio postgame. "

straight from here……

Both will sit out a few games if they are on the milder side of injuries.

Oh I almost forgot. Did anyone else see what Chris Paul did at the end of the half? Someone shot a half court shot and it hit hard off the back board to Paul. He grabbed the ball and Green was with him and Paul had an egregious flop attempt into a quick fake fight attempt versus Green. He’s such a punk ass.

He did something similar to P.Gasol

I hate him, the media love him. They have him as the MVP

He is my most disliked athlete. More than Antonio Margarito even.

This is bad news. The teams stacked perimeter showed it could get along without Manu, but Splitter has been playing really good.

Yes. Scarcity determines value like nothing else. Obviously Manu is the superior player to Tiago but I think losing Tiago will hurt the team more.

Buck Harvey @Buck_SA
Walked out with @manuginobili, and he had trouble walking. Oblique muscle hurt that much. Injured initially in Detroit. “Weird,” he said.

Well, at least now I wont hate the Clippers as much as I was starting to…..

I won’t let this stop me

Agreed. Disregard my previous statement.

Too bad Pop cant force Manu to sit out until there are about 20 games left in the season. I am not kidding. This might be the last shot the Spurs have at a title for a long time.

At least Pop has depth where he can force him to sit more minutes. that said, Need to bubble wrap him.

This doesn’t work. Pop made him sit in the game #81 last season, and Manu still got injured at the game #82. So, your options are to sit him out for the whole season or see him getting some new kind of injury.

I know is not important but the Spurs deserve 2 highlights on NBA youtube
Parker buzzerbeater in the 2 quarter and Neal 3pt shot

Yeah, that buzzerbeater by Parker at the end of the 1st half is just amazing.

Wow, I just think that Kenyon Martin should have stayed in China.

"My first dribble was actually toward the rim," Neal said, "and then I remembered we were down three, so I had to get a 3-pointer."

I love Gary Neal.

Both Toros forwards and Malcolm Thomas are currently playing for their respective D-League teams, btw.

Get better soon, Mr. Sexsplots.

I am missing you already. Jes.
The Spurs sparkle less when you aren’t playing.
