If I had gone to this game, we probably would have lost.
M3D1T8R - February 18, 2012
more important question is whether we would have two our guys out?
Kondor - February 18, 2012
I seriously hope not. From the onset, it didn’t look serious.
silverandblack_davis - February 18, 2012
it will be pretty bad if we lose out on Manu and Splitter…
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
I didn’t really see what happened, but having them both in the locker room doesn’t sound good
Kondor - February 18, 2012
MVP of the game@!

LatinD - February 18, 2012
You must feel a little bit like the Clippers right now, bro.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
I wonder if it was overtime that got me that win
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
Ha, he was Neal’d by Jordan.

spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
I love this game but pop is not going to sleep well tonight because timmy play 40 minutes

I’m not sleeping too well with Tiago out
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
and tony for 45
i luv this site - February 18, 2012
I thought I was gonna win it.
M3D1T8R - February 18, 2012
Ok, someone please explain in detail what happened with both Manu and Splitter……..
alamobro - February 18, 2012
Splitter is out with a calf strain… could be up to 3 weeks
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
pablitoo - February 18, 2012
They already diagnosed him that quickly….?
alamobro - February 18, 2012
No, but most calf strains are 3 weeks
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
and yes, they know he has a calf strain
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
HAHA! read my mind
pablitoo - February 18, 2012
Manu just never showed up in the second half
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
I got video
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
+1
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
that would hurt a calf for sure…
In the 666 - February 18, 2012
lol
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
Damn my season high is only good for 8th place
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
My season high was only good for 12th.
The Calvinator - February 18, 2012
I broke 100 for the first time in my career. I think, I won once the lowest scoring roll call in PtR history with 88.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
I’LL take it!
In the 666 - February 18, 2012
We just won with the following like-up:
Tony-Green-Neal-Duncan-Bonner
No Splits and No Manu and we actually won against the Clips!
ironm8 - February 18, 2012
And Bonner rocked.
M3D1T8R - February 18, 2012
In my opinion, this is Bonner’s best season as a Spur. I know his numbers are not as impressive, but he is playing better defense and getting boards. Hats off to Coach B.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
He is playing really well all around now.
gunnin' gervin - February 18, 2012
He plays smart. Imagine if he had even half the athletic abilities of Blair who doesn’t use his body well.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Yeah i’ve said that a few times. Or he at least had longer arms lol
gunnin' gervin - February 18, 2012
yeah, if he had Leonard wingspan, he’d actually be pretty good. his slowness actually helps him stay out of over committing and not easily fouling.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
So true
gunnin' gervin - February 18, 2012
if he had Blair athletic abilities he would be Kevin Love
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
oh boy
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
if blair would watch how Love boxes out….
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Agreed. This is the best I have ever seen him play. Hes not shooting the highest percentage of his career, but hes letting it fly in situations he never used to , and making alot of them.
alamobro - February 18, 2012
his 4th Q shooting % from 3pt is pretty good according to stats cube.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
I like the like-up.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
take that Blake Griffin!
TDzilla! - February 18, 2012
By the way, guys. Korean comic = epic.
LatinD - February 18, 2012
We did lose the 2nd half though
Kondor - February 18, 2012
only if overtime isn’t considered 2nd half
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
Overtime is clearly not the 2nd half.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
No more flying under the radar.
RobertoDR - February 18, 2012
Josh Guyer (completely deck) - February 18, 2012
I hope he’s ok, and Tiago too
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
NOOOOOOOOOOO!
MikeyKosa - February 18, 2012
Im not worried, they should be fine.
Chilai - February 18, 2012
……………..
alamobro - February 18, 2012
hmmmm…
In the 666 - February 18, 2012
So he did play…?
jonasfunk - February 18, 2012
We dont know anything about tiago until they really check him out.
Manu is fine, Pop is just overprotecting him (as he should)
Chilai - February 18, 2012
exactly since they don’t play till Monday
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Did you see the play where Many got hobbled…..?? I missed just about the whole game.
alamobro - February 18, 2012
*Manu
alamobro - February 18, 2012
I would be more confident if he stayed on the bench …
Kondor - February 18, 2012
This game was awesome. Showed that my team can win any game
hurts2bgood - February 18, 2012
What a game. That was a lost cause, and again Neal with the miracle.
silverandblack_davis - February 18, 2012
Yeah I already posted my “Good thing I didn’t go to this game”….
M3D1T8R - February 18, 2012
Good job you. You are the MVP of the game.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Clips announcers learned how not to call a game when it’s not yet over.
TDzilla! - February 18, 2012
NJ about to beat the Rose-less in Chicago.
M3D1T8R - February 18, 2012

Red Panda after Neal tying three.
ironm8 - February 18, 2012
YAAAYYY
silverandblack_davis - February 18, 2012
Splitter out for a little while? This sucks…..
alamobro - February 18, 2012
Don’t believe what they say. There’s no official diagnoses yet for both Tiago and Manu.
silverandblack_davis - February 18, 2012
Anyway, guys, I’m gonna try to enjoy the rest of my Sat. This was a great game. Thanks for sharing, and Jordan, I’ll get you the next time.
LatinD - February 18, 2012

Walks into the sunset? Did the Fiesta break down already….?
alamobro - February 18, 2012
indeed you will… see you later
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
Start the PF/C search post now. Now we need 2 rotation bigs signed.
Sh!fty - February 18, 2012
I posted this during the game thread
Free Agent Bigs
Centers
Ajinca, Alexis
Armstrong, Hilton
Dampier, Erick
Fesenko, Kyrylo
Gadzuric, Dan
Mbenga, DJ
Przybilla, Joel
Ratliff, Theo
Thomas, Etan
Power Forwards
Allen, Malik
Songaila, Darius
Powe, Leon
Powell, Josh
Jackson, Darnell
Dorsey, Joey
Diogu, Ike
Smith, Joe
Elson, Francisco
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
I’ll take Przybilla if he’s healthy.
Elson already knows the system. Etan Thomas is big, and Fesenko is young.
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
He already said he was only considering the Heat.
alamobro - February 18, 2012
*Pryzbilla
alamobro - February 18, 2012
Gadzuric is decent, meh
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
He’d fit in well. Anything to reduce Blair’s minutes during Tiago’s time off is a good thing. And Bonner/Blair
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Blair had a good game tonight I thought.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
He was -20 at one point. He ended at -17. He got some easy baskets, but good things didn’t really happen when he was in. That’s why Pop went to RJ and Leonard at the 4 over Blair. It’s a reason why he only played 16:48 in an OT game. And that’s without Splitter playing more than 5 minutes. Duncan played 41 min. Bonner played 35 min
Spurs did better against Blake with Bonner than with Blair, for example.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Yeah, his +- was atrocious. I just liked that he created some offense for us when we struggled.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
I don’t remember this
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
His positives outweigh his negatives. And that’s why his on court presence does not seem to help. Pop went to RJ and Leonard at the 4 because Blair was not helping much.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
I do not compute most of your comments, grego
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
I said it wrong. negatives outweight his positives. I accidentally the order
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Like he made a really good pass to Green, and Green missed the easiest shot of the game. He stole the ball and threw it away immediately.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
Yes, he did those, but just about everyone on the team can find the open man. The team is so much more effective with him off the court, for just about every game. His on/off court numbers are worse this year than it was last year.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Yes, it doesn’t fit well into the team’s play. He is a complete anti-Bonner in almost every way.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
racist
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
I would say that comment is very true without bringing up race at all…
MiniMegaMoose - February 18, 2012
Also 2 turnovers and 3 fouls in 16.5 minutes is a pretty bad rate. compare to Duncan with 0 at 41 minutes and Parker at 44.5 minutes.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Well, Bonner is the +/- king. He is playing really well recently, and look at our wining streak. I always think that good Bonner = wins for our team.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
I wasn’t even looking at Bonner’s +/-, but just watching the game, even though he’s not a solid one-on-one defender, he doesn’t do stupid things, so when the team comes with a hard double or triple team, he doesn’t foul and kill off the play. He also boxes out. My gosh, he boxed out Blake on an important rebound. I know if that was Blair, that would be a rebound for Blake or Blair would have fouled him.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Yeah, eyes closed. So easy. Cinchy….ppppffff
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
Fesenko is big and slow, he could become a decent Spur I would think. Etan Thomas is 6-10 and he was fighting with teammates in practice.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
Why do I know the name Alexis Ajinca?
Also, I’d take Leon Powe, though we already have Blair
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
The list is outdated. I think Elson signed with the 76ers and Dampier with the Hawks. A number of players like Dorsey are playing overseas this year. Ike may be available, and I think Bobby Simmons is playing in the DLeague, but I don’t think it would help to sign either one. Malcolm Thomas might be worth bringing back, and the Toros two 6’9" forwards are also having good seasons.
Pop indicated that he’d likely play some more small ball for a few games, which might be all that Tiago misses if he misses any games.
Alamo - February 18, 2012
This would be a good time for Thomas, who’d actually get some practice in and some play time.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
It is probably is outdated, is from nba.com, they still had Martin as a FA and few other guys with current teams. I tried to edit it
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
A logical starting place, I just happened to have looked at pretty much the same list earlier this week and discovered most of the more interesting names already looked committed. Dorsey is playing with the Greek team Olympiacos, Ajinca for Strasbourg,Armstrong for Asvel and Darnell Jackson for Donetsk. Leon Powe may be available, but may not have fully recovered from ACL surgery. Many of the others are hanger-ons. On the other hand, Malcolm Thomas in his last 3 dleague games has played 94 minutes and scored 45 points on 21-28 shooting with 25 rebounds, 5 assists and 10 blocks. Bring him back and give him some minutes and you could have another Lin story.
Alamo - February 18, 2012
Snealper
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
Almost hurt his game after missing those two free throws to seal it though.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
yea … because you dont use a sniper to kill someone who is in front of you =/
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
no scoped!
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
SO Tiago, calf strain. But Manu?
pablitoo - February 18, 2012
he got DeAndre Jordan’d
TDzilla! - February 18, 2012
Really? was it a flagrant?
pablitoo - February 18, 2012
no, it wasn’t. he didn’t even need to bump Manu.
TDzilla! - February 18, 2012
mmm I’m confused
pablitoo - February 18, 2012
DeAndre kinda chucked him out of bounds…
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
Spurs boring … this game was fuckin awesome!!!
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
Wow, awesome game.
But Blair sucks (-17 today) and now it’s Duncan/Bonner. Spurs need to sign another big.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
i hate to say this but …. the most probable thing to happen is Pop playing small ball with Kawhi at PF
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
Better than Blair.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
even worse
Blair at C
Kawhi at PF
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
or bonner playing 35 minutes
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
Pop went with some Kawhi at 4 and RJ, over some Blair.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Actually, KLeo guarding Blake was what turned the game around in the first half
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
Kawhi did a nice job
But also blake doesnt know what to do when he is doubleteam or tripleteam
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
of course he does… he just dunks through ALL of them
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
Small ball is going to see more of Kawhi at the 4. Sad, but Blair might not gain more minutes even with Splitters out.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
The Spurs HAVE to sign some now
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
Josh Guyer (completely deck) - February 18, 2012
FFFUUUUU!!!! Fuckin’ Jordan.
TDzilla! - February 18, 2012
Deandre Jorden is DEAD TO ME.
DrumsInTheDeep - February 18, 2012
Yikes. I seriously hope it’s not serious.
silverandblack_davis - February 18, 2012
I think CIA Pop is at work. Maybe.
silverandblack_davis - February 18, 2012
This just ruined my Sat.
RobertoDR - February 18, 2012
Not good.
Kevin21 - February 18, 2012

+1 bunch of thugs
Jordan Leithart - February 18, 2012
this
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
It was a gem left out in game thread purgatory. It had to be said.
silverandblack_davis - February 18, 2012
fuck the spurs!
seriously why do you have to say fuck the clippers for?
it’s just basketball, get a life!
ThaFoX - February 19, 2012 via Android app
Mostly it’s cause they looked like thugs out there by playing a physical style of basketball that’s only allowed because they’re the darling franchise this year
Jordan Leithart - February 19, 2012
Shit we were more physical than they were. LMAO that is a big reason there ass lost the game. Blake Griffin was crying for fouls like crazy.
gunnin' gervin - February 19, 2012
Agreed. Cursing is expected in the heat of the moment, but let’s all try to chill out in the aftermath. It is just basketball.
quincyscott - February 19, 2012
I hope Manu and Tiago are okay.
Amazing game..
I’m watching on a laptop at my friends comic book shop, and when Neal made that I jumped up yelling YEAAAAAHHHH everyone in the shop staring at me.
M3D1T8R - February 18, 2012
Well that was immensely enjoyable…
The Clippers are a good young team and beating them on their homecourt in the midst of a long road trip is something to be proud of. SA kept getting in its own way, free throws readily come to mind, but I’ll take it.
And what exactly to the Clippers have to do to get a technical foul called against them? Kenyon Martin’s antics alone are a 48-minute bitchfest and guys like Griffin, Jordan, Butler and Foye were being plenty demonstrative as well. They get a lot of leeway.
0signal - February 18, 2012
Also beat them without Splitter and Manu.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Now I gotta go be slightly productive the rest of the afternoon..
Good weekend all.
GARY MOTHERFUCKING ICE IN VEINS NEAL
M3D1T8R - February 18, 2012
Paul to Neal for three…
4Him - February 18, 2012
Assist of the game
grego21 - February 18, 2012
lol, maybe NBA.com makes it assist of the night
ironm8 - February 18, 2012
Karma at its best
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012

silverandblack_davis - February 18, 2012
it depends. It’s mostly seen in baseball players. Those tend to take months and sometiem require surgery. For a guy like Manu? Two weeks?

Manuwar - February 18, 2012

He used to have the highest FG% in the NBA. Of course, the Ws play no team game, so it’s really hard to say whether he can play or not.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
He dogs it every night. He’s never been the same after missing all those FTs. He plays scared.
doubleteapot - February 18, 2012
Low FT% is considered to be a plus for the Spurs. And Pop somehow convinced Bonner that he belongs to the NBA, so he can do wonders with underachievers.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
So… two draft picks then
doubleteapot - February 18, 2012

spursfan87 - February 18, 2012

FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012
Or more Neal minutes again (he’s better in smaller minutes). More bang for your buck, since his D is still pretty bad.
Anderson might someday see minutes again, with more practices available with the days off..
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Not unless he grows up 10 inches or so.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
You know, this isn’t a bad time for Manu and Tiago to miss some games. We only play 6 games in the next 3 weeks. ASB is coming up. And it gives guys like Anderson and whichever big we sign a chance to steal RJ’s minutes
FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012
The problem is the Spurs depth up front is weak. They need some more size for the Chicago game. Against Portland, they might be able to get away with it minus LA. Denver is probably small enough though.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
so you eat a loss to Chicago. Maybe someone like Malcolm Thomas can come in and actually give the Spurs some minutes/steal Blair’s minutes
FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012
Give Duncan the night off at Chicago and just play Blair the entire 48 minutes

Grading calf muscle strains
Muscle strains are graded from 1-3, with grade 1 being a minor tear, with up to 10% of fibres involved. A grade 2 tear involves up to 90% of the muscle fibres and a grade 3 is over 90% of fibres torn, or a full rupture. This usually occurs at the muscular tendinous junction or the achilles tendon itself.
Grade 1:
A twinge of pain in the back of the lower leg.
May be able to play on.
Tightness and aching in the 2-5 days after.
Grade 2
Sharp pain in the back of the lower leg.
Pain when walking.
There may be swelling in the calf.
Mild to moderate bruising.
Pain on resisted plantarflexion.
Tightness and aching for a week or more.
Grade 3
Severe immediate pain.
A sudden pain at the back of the leg, often at the muscular tendinous junction (see image below).
Inability to contract the muscle.
Considerable bruising and swelling.
In the case of a full rupture, often the muscle can be seen to be bunched up towards the top of the calf.
Spurs Yoda - February 18, 2012
full rupture is very rare. Chances are it’s a grade 2
FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012
yeah, which hopefully won’t keep him out too long

Spurs Yoda - February 18, 2012
I’ll tell you in a few months
doubleteapot - February 18, 2012
this shouldn’t set him back a lot. It makes the next 2 weeks more tenuous and delays his getting into game shape, but all in all, if he was going to be good for the playoffs before this injury, he should be good afterwards
FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012

eh. He still has to hit some 3s to be effective. Let’s not get carried away
FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012
But he is. It does look like Chip has helped him get his release to be quicker.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
He looks more confident, too. There was a shot he made late in today’s game. He had missed his previous shot. Tight game, on the road, in crunch time, and he takes a little extra time to get set, and nails it. That’s good to see from Bonner.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
Yep. the OT 3 was big.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Lol, thank you.
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
I have been a critic of Bonner for a long time, but I have to say he is playing better this season. Of course the three ball is still his most important skill, but he is giving the Spurs other stuff now.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
His improvements on defense are high biggest thing IMO. he’s made vast improvements there. His help D is really good.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Yes. And as much as we mock his shy-hook, it is a serviceable counter to his three.
He is closing out well on shooters, grabbing boards. Pop has to be please with him.
Now Jefferson and Blair, those are different stories…
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
The big thing with Blair, is he’s so limited that his versatility doesn’t work. he can only really play with Duncan and be somewhat effective.
Although RJ is frustrating, he’s serviceable. He’s average too often, but average is enough to keep him in games. He was able to play the 4 position a bit. Obviously, for what they pay, he should do more though.
Now would RJ get time if Neal was not such a horrid defender? Probably a lot less.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
He played good today, but I’d wait to see how much of his betterment is due to playing with Splitter and also Duncan playing better this season than last.
silverandblack_davis - February 18, 2012
He plays better with Duncan and Splitter, but he shows his improvement by not being as big a weakness. His off the dribble has improved over the past year to 2 years. he can now stop and pop or use that flip shot he has. On D, his help has been pretty solid. He boxed out Blake in a key rebounding play. That stands out a lot in my eyes.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Yes. And remember that play when Griffin got a dunk against him, and then Coach B. beat him down to the other end of the floor for a lay-up? I enjoyed that tremendously.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
This type of play will come in handy for the post season. I’m guessing during the summer and once the lockout ended, he continued to work even harder on being run off the ball. It started about a year ago and looks like its coming full circle.
grego21 - February 18, 2012

doubleteapot - February 18, 2012
Or Jerry Sloan
doubleteapot - February 18, 2012
if Jerry Sloane clashed with Deron Williams, I can’t imagine him doing well with Paul and Griffin
FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012
I see it completely differently
doubleteapot - February 18, 2012
CP3 is an ass on the court, but he’s a smarter player than DWill. Blake, seems like he’d get along with Sloan though.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
I would be utterly shocked if Sloan ever coaches again.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
I don’t think he will.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
CP3 didn’t exactly get along well with Byron Scott, right?
I liked Blake a lot more when he wasn’t pulling an Amare Stoudemire every time he drove to the paint/was breathed on
FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012
Scott is overrated though. He lost his players in NJ as well, once his assistant left for Wizards (I can’t remember his name).
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Eddie Jordan (who’s now coaching Freshmen high school teams in NY)
FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012
There you go. He isn’t a good head coach, but he’s a good assistant. He’s like PJ, for the Spurs.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
apparently, pop invited him to help out the Spurs in the abridged TC
FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012
Someone called Blake out on his flopping earlier this year. I think it was Matt Barnes, I don’t remember. And yeah I think there was some bad blood between Cp3 and Scott
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
Not enough talent for phil jackson …he doesnt like challenge
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
Vinny gets all the blame on losses, CP Flop and Blake get all the credit on wins. Especially out her ein lala land
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
That’s because Vinny is a bad coach – he proved it in Chicago
doubleteapot - February 18, 2012
Really? You watched that team closely?
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
Or are you just believing popular media outlets? Because as a Spurs fan you should know better than that…
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
I thought Vinny did a good job against us today. They did some things on defense that forced us to make adjustments. They weren’t just playing pickup ball out there, no matter what Simmons says.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
He did occasionally, but they blew the game under his watch too. He has assistants as well But they are really bad compared to what they could be. Bulls still won with Vinny as well. But when it came time to take it to th enext level, he was not the guy
grego21 - February 18, 2012
On the other hand, we got lucky with that last play in regulation. Clippers played good enough to beat us today.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
Yeah
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
Of course. I don’t blame that on Vinny. In no way am I saying he’s complete trash, but he’s not a good coach either. Spurs suffered more from missing Manu and Splitter. That and Bonner/Blair made its appearance again.
Spurs got really lucky, but also bad luck with two straight plays where they bobbled the pass. Neal made up for his, but RJ the play before pulled that too.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Well, he somehow blew a thirty or forty point lead to the Kings (a bad team)
He also got trashed by everyone in Chicago for bad rotations, a predictable offense, and bad coaching in general.
If you get trashed by the media and the fans – you’re a bad coach. No I didn’t watch all the games.
doubleteapot - February 18, 2012
Because fans are so smart
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
I still wonder how he managed to blow that lead against the Kings. And by the way, the Bulls made the playoffs when he was coaching! And yet everyone hated his guts!
It’s not like ownership defended him, either – they let him go once his contract was up. Now the Bulls are the best team in the East.
doubleteapot - February 18, 2012
Carlisle got ran out of Detroit and had a bad reputation too. Perception is sometimes completely different than reality, that’s all I’m saying.
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
Carlisle got shafted because of Larry Brown. There are few coaches who will do that, but Det jumped on Brown. Phil and Pop are other coaches. Pat Riley as well.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
This is a good point. A lot of it has to do with the situation.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
So far, Clippers are like the Bulls with Vinny. They are winning, but more because of talent than anything.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Except when they are losing. Then it’s not the talented player’s fault. It’s the coaches. Makes so much sense.
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
Oh, players are at fault too. I just don’t see Vinny over time doing much to put his team in another level. That said, most coaches in the league aren’t that good. It’s not like vinny is alone in his own bubble.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Sterling, as always cheaped out. This is where he cheaped out. When it comes time to paying all his players, he won’t as long as Blake and CP3 bring in the tickets.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
I think he’ll just jack up the prices
doubleteapot - February 18, 2012
Perhaps, but if history plays out as it has done consistently, he’ll maximize his margin and spend just as much to keep his profit as high as it is. Seriously, if Clippers were run by even Holt and company, they’d make so much money. Or if by Cuban, they’d spend a lot, but make a whole lot and win. I mean, Clippers and Lakers in LA. That would be huge.
They got lucky by drafting Blake, and then getting CP3, but we’ll see when the role players and everyone else needs to be traded.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Clippers fan
DTS has spent $ going back to Maggette and Brand…was vdn a cheap hire? Maybe, since the Bulls were partially paying for him when the Clippers picked him up…but calling DTS cheap when it comes to players, that’s not accurate in recent history.
Lawler's Law - February 18, 2012
He had to. Their payroll was very limited. They were falling under the baseline minimum. Sterling will pay a little bit, but that’s all. As long as he brings in enough talent to bring in the fans.
I can’t believe you’d defend Sterling. He’s the one guy who does not deserve to be defended. He’s slowed the Clippers progress through the years. He played at the Sports Arena for so long. that place is horrid.
I have nothing against the Clippers, but Sterling is everything that is wrong with the Clippers. Without him, they’d be much better.
Cheap he is. You have to have a minimum payroll, and he did at the time.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
i hate the guy as much as the next guy
he’s just an ahole of a human being, but the guy has put up the money…BD got paid to eat Dunkin Donuts…
Lawler's Law - February 18, 2012
I thought BD got paid to be heckled :)
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
Or grow the hobo beard.
silverandblack_davis - February 18, 2012
But you have to put up some money. He also does enough to bring in guys who will keep people in seats. But outside of that, his history speaks for itself. Thank goodness the NBA also has a penalty for spending too little, just like when you spend too much.
I really wish, the NBA would take the team away from him. I feel like Clipper fans could have had so much more if not for a better owner.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Good Night All!
Great Win!! GSG!!
ironm8 - February 18, 2012
Night!
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
The Linsanity and Novak are taking on the lakers.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
??
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
Just go with it?
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
Shrug.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
Just Neal with it.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Playing on ESPN right now.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Ah I see. I like it
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
I was fooled when I wrote it, thinking they were playing tonight. Doh. :)
grego21 - February 18, 2012
what a way to start a morning! congrats spurs.
rank - February 18, 2012
“Probably the worst play I’ve been a part of since I’ve been in the NBA.” —Chris Paul on the turnover
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
It was less his fault and more Ryan Gomes’ fault.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Even though Gomes put him in a bad position there’s no excuse to throw it towards your own basket. If he’s attempting to save a backcourt violation, then throw it into the front court. Paul fucked up. No way around that.
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
He should have taken the backcourt, as he admitted, so yes, he was better off doing that, but Gomes put him in the situation. Neither is innocent, but Gomes created the situation. This is why pop goes to Duncan to take the ball out at key moments. Smart passing makes a difference.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Nuggets center Nene will not play Sunday against the Thunder. He will miss his fourth straight game with a calf injury.
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
If he’s out and LA’s out, Splitter being out isn’t as painful.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Gomes cops to bad pass. Mea Culpa
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
Gotta feel a little bit for Gomes…here is a shot of his twitter page
icewater - February 18, 2012
Karma for not going to the Spurs when they tried to sign him 2 years ago!
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Check out clippersnation.com gamethread
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
I think this sums up everything….
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Rec’d
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
I aw that too, haha. That’s a live gamethread at his best
ironm8 - February 19, 2012
Reminds me the nuggets vs the lakers in playoffs and the steal of trevor ariza
That happens when teams have no playoffs experience
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
Sorry I missed this game—sounds like I saved myself from some stress by doing so though lol. Great win! 10 in a row! Hope Manu and Tiago are ok though.
Trey Felder - February 18, 2012
AAAAAAAAAMEEEEEEEEEEEN.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
How’d they get hurt? The Whirlwide Liter is being stingy with details :P
Trey Felder - February 18, 2012
Manu got clobbered. I think Splitter just planted funny or something.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
---
let me post it again
Tiago
Manu
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
hahaha
+1
J-Brown92 - February 18, 2012
" Spurs assistant Don Newman said Manu took "two vicious blows" and was still trying to come back. Newman was talking to Bill Schoening on the Spurs radio postgame. "
straight from here……

alamobro - February 18, 2012
Both will sit out a few games if they are on the milder side of injuries.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
Oh I almost forgot. Did anyone else see what Chris Paul did at the end of the half? Someone shot a half court shot and it hit hard off the back board to Paul. He grabbed the ball and Green was with him and Paul had an egregious flop attempt into a quick fake fight attempt versus Green. He’s such a punk ass.
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
He did something similar to P.Gasol
I hate him, the media love him. They have him as the MVP
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
He is my most disliked athlete. More than Antonio Margarito even.
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
This is bad news. The teams stacked perimeter showed it could get along without Manu, but Splitter has been playing really good.
alamobro - February 18, 2012
Yes. Scarcity determines value like nothing else. Obviously Manu is the superior player to Tiago but I think losing Tiago will hurt the team more.
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
spursfan87 - February 18, 2012
Well, at least now I wont hate the Clippers as much as I was starting to…..
alamobro - February 18, 2012
I won’t let this stop me
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
Agreed. Disregard my previous statement.
alamobro - February 18, 2012
Too bad Pop cant force Manu to sit out until there are about 20 games left in the season. I am not kidding. This might be the last shot the Spurs have at a title for a long time.
alamobro - February 18, 2012
At least Pop has depth where he can force him to sit more minutes. that said, Need to bubble wrap him.
grego21 - February 18, 2012
lol seriously
Manuwar - February 18, 2012
This doesn’t work. Pop made him sit in the game #81 last season, and Manu still got injured at the game #82. So, your options are to sit him out for the whole season or see him getting some new kind of injury.
Kondor - February 18, 2012
I know is not important but the Spurs deserve 2 highlights on NBA youtube
Parker buzzerbeater in the 2 quarter and Neal 3pt shot
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
Yeah, that buzzerbeater by Parker at the end of the 1st half is just amazing.
Confidant - February 18, 2012
Wow, I just think that Kenyon Martin should have stayed in China.
Confidant - February 18, 2012
"My first dribble was actually toward the rim," Neal said, "and then I remembered we were down three, so I had to get a 3-pointer."
cuentaluis1 - February 18, 2012
I love Gary Neal.
quincyscott - February 18, 2012
Both Toros forwards and Malcolm Thomas are currently playing for their respective D-League teams, btw.
FirebatM3 - February 18, 2012
Get better soon, Mr. Sexsplots.
I am missing you already. Jes.
The Spurs sparkle less when you aren’t playing.
