It's been quite a while since I've done one of these. Mourning the loss of my co-caster, SiMA, and dealing with the compressed schedule has kept me off the mike since last season. But the endless pressure to re-boot AFoS by Matthew Tynan and SpursfanSteve, who agreed to be my cohorts this year, was just too much and so we're reimplementing your favorite bloggy pasttime: assembling an assortment of topics and holding forth on them while attempting to preserve the illusion of some kind of expertise -- otherwise known as pod-casting.
Thanks to Josh Guyer for his work in the booth and creating the variety of delivery methods below. Topics covered: the season so far, are the Spurs conference favorites, how long will Duncan play, and near endless improvisations on related themes. Enjoy responsibly. It's 38 minutes long. And please vote in the poll.

This was recorded on Tuesday evening after the game against the Pistons.
Here are your options for podcast consumption:
And finally: here it is on the hosting site we'll be using if the iTunes option does well enough in the poll. In other words, it's not free and we won't be popping for this unless enough people are interested.
(Editor's Note: coming up later today will be Edg5's piece on flopping. It's a great read, so look for it in just a few hours.)

Great job, guys!
As in some of the past seasons, the only thing that will derail the Spurs this season is a key injury.

These are always great. Good to see it’s back.
Well done.
I agree that we have to see the Spurs as (one of the) favorites to come out of the West if we keep playing like this.

Have you guys tried free podcasts like podomatic?
Sh!fty - February 16, 2012
Josh, wanna look into that?
J.R. Wilco - February 16, 2012
Podomatic link

YAY!!!! AFoS is back :D My favorite part of last season on PtR. Really miss SiMA though. Btw I voted for the Youtube option because that’s the only one that will work on Department of Defense computers :P

Good to know!

Josh….
Great music selection. Love the outro.
SpursfanSteve - February 16, 2012
The outro = YES.
silverandblack_davis - February 17, 2012
Great job. Did SiMA die?
And… that’s a lot of heavy metal music.
DrumsInTheDeep - February 16, 2012
SiMA had a baby, and the bloggy part of him suffered an immediate and premature death.
J.R. Wilco - February 16, 2012
:(

Nice conversation. Man, somebody has terrible taste in music!!!
quincyscott - February 16, 2012
Don’t like Stevie Wonder, eh?
J.R. Wilco - February 16, 2012
He was looking for some Beatles, I’m sure :)
silverandblack_davis - February 17, 2012
He was referring to the intro, I’m sure :)
J.R. Wilco - February 17, 2012
Great use of TWSS.

Awesome work, guys. Also, props to Josh for the high production values. Loved that Sean Connery intro of “welcome to the rock!” (or so I think it is)
silverandblack_davis - February 17, 2012
Nice catch. It’s Connery indeed.
J.R. Wilco - February 17, 2012
sheed? oberto? why don’t we just dig up the corpse of wilt chamberlain while we’re at it?
good to see this back. my personal preference is for a direct mp3 download link.
also, was some delay added in post-production? maybe next time run it through a ring mod, or maybe vocode the whole thing…

I was thinking 100% interpretive kazoo performance, but the guys voted me down.
J.R. Wilco - February 17, 2012
I would be in favor of this.
However, I do have to point out to our etymology loving bossman that we are more than a fifth through the season. Granted, “A Jug of Spurs” doesn’t have the same ring to it nor would it contain your favorite number, but still…

When we named the podcast last year, the name made sense. Kind of like how the name Jazz made sense when the team played in New Orleans. But now the name’s stuck, regardless of WHEN we’re doing it, but as long as we do one about every 13 games, it’ll still a much more relevant name for a podcast than Jazz is for a basketball team playing in Utah.
J.R. Wilco - February 20, 2012
That was fun.
