It's official. Although Lin-sanity is the biggest story right now, once again, the San Antonio Spurs are the hottest team in the NBA that no one outside of Spurs fans knows about. And the Spurs would have it no other way. However, that's not the the best news. Manu is back! The Spurs weathered the storm better than anyone could have predicted (15-7 in LWM). The Spurs continue their Rodeo Road Trip to Detroit, to meet another former NBA Finals opponent. Like the New Jersey Nets, once a threat to make noise in the playoffs, the Pistons have fallen far from grace.

The Spurs, fresh off their victory against the New Jesey Nets, and two days rest, come in looking in great position to establish themselves atop the standings in the western conference.
There is not too much one can take from the New Jersey Nets game. They are bad, really bad.
However, there are some positive we can still take out of the game.
There is not a lot that a fan can take out of this game against the Pistons much like the Nets game. However, these games are perfect because Manu just returned and needs to be worked into playing shape. And now that Pop has had days to practice, he can begin to run some of his lessons against moderately equipped teams prior to the west coast swing of the rodeo trip.

NBA Stats Cube Lineup Comparison Here. Detroit Pistons perspective can be found here: Detroit Bad Boys
Game Prediction: Spurs jump on Detroit, Manu continues to look better and the starters enjoy the 4th quarter off.
As always Tony must dominate Fisher, and NBA league pass is recommended for those who are willing to pony up the cash. Almost every Spurs game will be broadcast there, which is especially helpful for those of us who aren't in the San Antonio area. Please don't post links to illegal game feeds in the game thread. Links to illegal feeds are not permitted on SBNation, but you can probably find them out there on the internets if you're resourceful and desperate.

hey i just noticed a small error
“There is not a lot that a fan can take out of this game against the Wizards much like the Nets game”
I should say Detroit instead of the Wizards.
It’s like a Tony must dominate Fisher moment!

I found the perfect thing for whenever Neal does something of value:

Red panda mojo!

It would be great to give Tim the night off and watch a complete game of Tiago and Monroe do battle.

It’s been seven years….wow have times changed

The Dorito Piston Boy pic…how awesome. Also, “moderately equipped teams” is quite diplomatic and a nice touch.

Wow! Tonight Ben wallace will set the record as the most games played, 1055, by an undrafted player.
Spurs Yoda - February 14, 2012 via mobile
Biggest news for the Pistons, sadly.
grego21 - February 14, 2012
That is pretty cool, I must say. Whatever anyone’s view on Wallace, for nan undrfafted guy, he’s had a great, long career.
Ed (dfjmed) - February 14, 2012
Here’s hoping Gary Neal and Jeremy Lin go on to eclipse that record.
transgojobot - February 14, 2012
I don't think its difficult to argue that Ben Wallace is the greatest undrafted player of all time
and I’d certainly appreciate anyone’s feeble attempts to argue otherwise. As for your commentary on the Pistons, I want to be offended, but then I remember how bad our team is at pretty much everything not related to Greg Monroe and realize you’re spot on with your evaluation.
The Boourns - February 14, 2012
I’m sorry for your team. I don’t get why they paid Prince that much to stay on the team.
grego21 - February 14, 2012
Greatest undrafted player of all time? LIN!
Edg5 - February 14, 2012
That is Linsane.
The Boourns - February 14, 2012
Well played.
Big50 - February 14, 2012
Do you think Lin went up to his girlfriend today, with it being V-Day and all and said,
Hey baby, let’s get Lintimate. I want to have sexual lintercourse with you…
The Boourns - February 14, 2012
And she probably said, " I lost all linterest the moment you started putting Lin in front of every fucking word".
Hipuks - February 14, 2012
He will be if he stays in New York.
I think Moses Malone might get the honor, but I have not looked through the full list
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Undrafted_National_Basketball_Association_players
grego21 - February 14, 2012
Malone was drafted by the ABA's Utah Stars in 1974
Just because he wasn’t drafted directly into the NBA doesn’t mean he wasn’t drafted :-).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moses_Malone#High_school
And I think its a bit early to proclaim that Lin will be the greatest undrafted NBA player of all time after only 5-6 solid games playing in D’Antoni’s system.
Ben Wallace put forth the greatest single-season defensive effort ever recorded in the NBA…not to mention 4 DPOY on top of that…
The Boourns - February 14, 2012
Well, yes, but he wasn’t drafted in the NBA, so technically, he’s undrafted by NBA.
In no mean do I mean that Ben Wallace isn’t a qualified player or less of a player.
grego21 - February 14, 2012
If thats the definition, then every single ABA player who was transitioned to the NBA via the merger is included
which to me just clouds the statement further rather than excluding those players and recognizing that there was a reputable professional league that drafted them prior to the merger/creation of the NBA.
The Boourns - February 14, 2012
I’ll give you that.
I’ll take their take on it.

One love.
I hate Manu, but love Pop and Duncan Donuts. Glad you guys helped us on our way towards a more fruitful June and hope that the win you took over the Pistons will lead you towards your most fruitful Rodeo Roadtrip ever!
The Boourns - February 14, 2012
Everyone hates Manu except for if he’s on your team….
That to me was Rodman as well. Super awesome, but annoying if you were a non-fan. Or Lambeer in the older days…
grego21 - February 15, 2012
I was kidding grego. He doesn’t only have to beat Wallace for the honor but also Brad Miller and Bowen. The kid has talent but his using more than 30% of the Knicks possessions. When Melo and Amare return that’s not going to be the case.
Edg5 - February 14, 2012
Here's a good article on some of the top undrafted players...
its a couple years old but still worth a read. You nailed 2 of the guys on that list.

I know you were based on your knowledge shown in posts and articles.
grego21 - February 14, 2012
And nice preview too, grego!
Ed (dfjmed) - February 14, 2012
Thanks. My prediction was off though. It was looking good until the Spurs turned it into a tarp game.
