Friday Funnies - TJ v. Manu for the GQ Look

In honor of Manu's imminent return, here's a comic look at the contrasting fashion of TJ Ford and Manu as they sat together behind the bench. TJ started off rockin' the suit and tie, but as time has progressed he has come around the Manu's casual chic look. Here's my six-frame take on what was said the first night they sat together: Manu in black velveteen sport coat, jeans, and open-collared shirt, and TJ in a light brown suit with coordinating shirt and tie.

Be sure to read how this all worked out on the Road Trip at the end of the post.

So how did this all end? The last two games in Memphis and Philadelphia, Manu was wearing his black velveteen jacket, jeans, and open collared shirt - and TJ had traded his suit for - yes, you guessed it - a black velveteen jacket, jeans, and open collared shirt!

Hahaha – great picture-story, JA:) I bet TJ will miss his behind-the-bench buddy! GoManuGo!!!!

Aw, TWINSIES! Thanks for the photos and the cute story.

GOL, me and my wife loved the picture story, janieannie :D

Great story, thank you.

Hey janieannie, any suggestions on good settings to take pictures at the arena? What works well for you? I am going to the Nets game tomorrow and hoping to get some good shots of the guys.

What kind of camera are you using? NBA arenas won’t allow cameras with detachable lenses. I set my camera for 800 ISO, exposure time 1/160 to 1/200, f/stop around 4 for most shots. I also have a choice to set lighting type – use one of 2 fluorescent settings. Different arenas have different types of lighting – have never shot in New Jersey. My little Canon allows me to set the exposure time and it sets the f/stop for me. Good luck! Wish I could be there – I checked on flights, but it was just too expensive for one game.

So if I were ever to go to an nba game, I wouldn’t be allowed to bring my Canon 1100D?! That’s crazy.

It has to do with their photo licensing agreements.

I have a camera with a fixed lens so I think I should be OK. That is exactly the type of information I was looking for. Thanks!

You’re OK as long as the lens isn’t over 3 1/2 inches – at least that’s the deal in San Antonio. I checked the site for the arena in NJ and they say no “professional-type cameras”.

Wow! They were extremely lax at the Prudential center. I was worried because my fixed lens camera can zoom to 35x so I was worried they were going to send me back. But they did not even look at it. Furthermore while the game was going on a small dude came with his family with a DSLR with a huge telephoto lens attached!

And TJ was wearing Manu’s jacket!!!

Did you get any good pictures? Any good ones of Manu you can tweet to @InfoManu on Twitter.

I have several on the bench and there is a semi-floater (zoomed out) If I see anything worthy Ill post.

AT&T Center security would have nabbed the guy with the telephoto lens.

There are three facial expressions in these photos that are wonderful: Timmy in photo three and Manu and TJ in photo five. The look Manu is giving RJ seems to be burning what little hair RJ has on his head.

Oh, and – Manu’s velveteen jacket is technically no-wale corduroy, but that’s a detail only a seamstress/tailor can appreciate.

This was really funny Janie. I also saw that Manu recommended following @InfoManu on his Facebook page. Congrats on that. You guys are becoming the go-to source for Manu news.

We are on Facebook, too! @InfoManu, same name. There’s a “guess Manu’s stats” thing going on there (guess points, assists, and rebounds). And things are more likely to be in both Spanish and English there.

Awesome as always janieannie… Thanks for making me smile!
