I noticed that too. Thread activity went up after Duncan took a sip from the fountain of youth.

I’m always in the 75-80 range lately. That’s my new range, I guess. It’s okay. I’m older now, I don’t just whip out my keyboard and comment all over the post. I am a selective poster, going for quality over quantity.
LatinD - February 1, 2012

It’s still nice to see your comments even they were many long ago. One of the reasons I joined PtR, not just lurking on it.
Confidant - February 1, 2012
Thanks, Confidant. That’s awfully nice of you. So nice, in fact, that I feel like I’m being tricked. Am I? Am I?!
LatinD - February 1, 2012
Not really, I always fail to watch Spurs games, and the only way I can see how the game went is by looking at the highlights, box score, recap, etc., but the best part is reading PtR.
Confidant - February 1, 2012
Well, stick around then. PtR is a group project.

doubleteapot - February 1, 2012
I was doing 40 comments a game thread but I guess I was excited today and in the climax of the game surged forth a fountain of comments.
Hipuks - February 1, 2012
It’s difficult to keep them in near the end of the game.
LatinD - February 1, 2012
Too true. It’s like the slightest touch of the keyboard and just…Splash. Comments everywhere.

Edg5 - February 1, 2012
Watching this game I realized who Danny Green reminds me of—he’s like a modern version of Mario Elie.
tomasito - February 1, 2012
Mario Elie was one of my favorite players to watch growing up. Great comparison.
ptcashion - February 1, 2012
Great court awareness, toughness, good shooter, sneaky athletic, decent ball handling. Hopefully he’ll hit some big shots for us in the postseason.
tomasito - February 1, 2012
I’m really excited about Green’s future. I just hope it remains he remains in silver and black. Doesn’t his contract expire soon?

Dont worry ….. Tim Duncan shooting 10 free throws is not going to happen that much
cuentaluis1 - February 1, 2012
Every fan feels like their team gets shafted
hurts2bgood - February 1, 2012
I honestly didn’t notice a big disparity. Sure, Duncan gets calls but that’s true for every star.
Edg5 - February 1, 2012
Now that I think about it, the refs did let a lot of contact slide in favor of SA.
Edg5 - February 1, 2012
Even the Spurs are having those kind of nights, and these people/we go crazy in their keyboard.
Confidant - February 1, 2012
Not really
MikeyKosa - February 1, 2012
Honestly, I think the refs call it in our favor. But hey, that’s the NBA.
LatinD - February 1, 2012
We were the home team, after all.
tomasito - February 1, 2012
Sometimes I think the refs call it in favor of the more aggressive team.
SpursCupcake - February 1, 2012
Like Durant and Westbrook going to the free throw line like 20 times a game
cuentaluis1 - February 1, 2012
we got f**k in Dallas, is about time!
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
refs rarely actually cost a team the game. it’s usually an easy out when they lose, rather than looking at the things the team did wrong.
sleep research facility - February 1, 2012
I seen studies by smarty pants PhD statisticians that suggests that homecourt advantage is almost entirely attributable to favorable officiating.
tomasito - February 1, 2012
Thats true, EXCEPT IF YOU ARE THE LAKERS
If you are the lakers its a rule that they average 40 free throws in a very important game … or in the game 7 of a playoff series
cuentaluis1 - February 1, 2012
there is a big ft disparity…….
theonlyromeo - February 1, 2012
They really didn’t drive a whole bunch. Mostly just a lot of outside shooting.
MikeyKosa - February 1, 2012

gunnin' gervin - February 1, 2012
Something has to be done with the Spurs startling lineup
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
they suck, I cant wait for the bench to come in and save the day
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
Move RJ to the bench. Start Neal and Kawhi.
Tim C. - February 1, 2012
I know this is not going to happen but, start Neal or Anderson at the 2, bench Blair and play Kawhi at the 4.
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
I’m tempted to say start Bonner for spacing, since Kawhi is there for D and rebounding, but dude is already going to be getting too many minutes after the last 2 games. I don’t want to encourage such behavior.
Tim C. - February 1, 2012
The problem with starting Bonner is then you put the spacing problem on the bench unit with Blair and Tiago.
Bonner is playing better d this season and he’s boxing out.
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
I miss Manu. And TJ. :(
Tim C. - February 1, 2012
I also agree with you on benching RJ. The guy has turned in Finley, only that Finley was a much better shooter. But RJ most of the time plays with no energy, and is only a jump shooter
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
Kawhi at the 4? He has a huge wingspan but he would get abused in the paint
Kevin21 - February 1, 2012
probably, but the spurs starting line up cant score and cant play defense
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
Green Start
Kawhi Benchi ?
cuentaluis1 - February 1, 2012
I like Green energy off the bench.
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
Spurs are about to have a hell of alot of options.
alamobro - February 1, 2012
As much as I love Kawhi, Green is a 3-point threat and should give the starters ample spacing to run the offense efficiently. This might work.
Tim C. - February 1, 2012
But Spurs lose a lot in the bench without Green, especially since they lack a backup PG. I don’t mind Neal as part of a duo of backup PGs, with Green, but… meh
grego21 - February 1, 2012
Manu will be back eventually. Instant starting lineup cure.

grego21 - February 1, 2012
I’ll put a buck on Portland against your ten
Kondor - February 1, 2012
Nice come back for our Spurs tonight.

Man, the AT&T was ROCKIN’ during that comeback!!!! Never seen a game like that live :D So proud of my Spurs!!!! I have no voice btw—I think the Mrs. and I should get 6th man honors ;)
Trey Felder - February 1, 2012
Awesome!!!
Manu has something for you
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
Those cheap bastards, they should’ve made a lefty one for him.

Hipuks - February 1, 2012
they changed the domain to firstrow now
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
It was a week ago when I first saw that change.
day_late_friend - February 1, 2012
fffffffuuuuuuuuuu
while i don’t need it for the nba, i use it because the australian league is delayed horribly here (games are shown anywhere between 2-6 hours after they finished, or not shown at all like today’s game), but the feed from the game was being tapped live by people. shit.
sleep research facility - February 1, 2012
It was bound to happen sooner or later, it became the go to site for sports.
Hipuks - February 1, 2012

Michael Jordan is rolling over in his grave.
grego21 - February 1, 2012
beat me to it :) I should learn to type faster.
Kondor - February 1, 2012
I wounder if he shows up to practices and berates his players, it wouldn’t surprise me.
Kevin21 - February 1, 2012
I wonder of he bets on Bobcat games.
I wonder what brand of underwear he wears.
I wonder if the sun sets in the East.
quincyscott - February 2, 2012 via mobile
Awesome game to be at! It was rocking’ during that third quarter. Totally worth the drive in from San Marcos. And I have to say, Bonner played great D.
MiniMegaMoose - February 1, 2012 via mobile
You are the lucky one, congratulations!
Please, don’t tell it to Fred.Kondor - February 1, 2012
Go utah
spursfan87 - February 1, 2012
Our bench continue its domination. Combined +75 tonight (Neal +26, Bonner +20).
Kondor - February 1, 2012
Bonner pulled down 10 boards, as well. And he played some D on Scola.. oh snapp……!
grego21 - February 1, 2012
His 2nd good game in a row. He had the team-leading +21 @Memphis with 5-9 3pt shooting.
Kondor - February 1, 2012
Statistically, but I thought once he started to hit shots a few games before that, he was turning the corner. I’ve been happy with his D (relative to Bonner/Blair standards) in units with Tiago, as well.
grego21 - February 1, 2012
That’s true, he started the season slowly (probably missing the training camp?), and has been much better recently. These last two games were his best two games so far. And he is a good fit for Tiago’s inside game.
Kondor - February 2, 2012
Unless Pop is f-ing with me, I’d expect a lot of Tiago/Bonner in tomorrow’s game. And then small ball as the other main lineup. I have a feeling TD will sit a lot or not play at all.
grego21 - February 2, 2012
Pop is 5king with everyone. I don’t know if he would dare to sit Tim again without a good reason though. Timmy has been pretty good recently, and he doesn’t like to sit out games.
Kondor - February 2, 2012
5th game in 7 nights on the second set of back-to-backs for this week though. There’s also a game Saturday night.
Yes, it’s been a home stand, so anything goes.
grego21 - February 2, 2012
The team plays with more energy starting from the 2nd half in Dallas. If I am Pop, I would try to ride the momentum and not make any drastic changes, just tweak the minutes a little. But of course Pop may do something completely different.
Kondor - February 2, 2012
I don’t think you can continue to play Timmy these big minutes. And Parker as well who was over 35 minutes against Houston.
grego21 - February 2, 2012
I would play Timmy for 20 minutes max against NO. But if the game is close … I don’t know. It should be easier to get a W tomorrow than on Saturday.
Kondor - February 2, 2012
Well, in the last NO game, Splitter played out all of the 4th quarter. Bonner played out most of it (Duncan played 5 minutes).
grego21 - February 2, 2012
by the way, Kobe averages 38 min/game, Tony 33 and Timmy 27.
Kondor - February 2, 2012
Kobe might be not the greatest, personality wise, but his work ethnic, has definitely paid off throughout the years.
grego21 - February 2, 2012
Our guys have it relatively easy, with Pop managing their minutes.
Kondor - February 2, 2012
Yeah, Scola had an awful game. He usually lights us up.
quincyscott - February 2, 2012 via mobile
Spurs played pretty good D on him. They even did a good job on Martin in the second half. Patterson took honors for being the big that caused the Spurs problems this game. Lowry was subpar (relative to his other games)
grego21 - February 2, 2012
http://www.nba.com/games/20120201/CHAPOR/gameinfo.html?ls=gt2hp0021100324#nbaGIboxscore
Wow, look at that +/-
Felton = +41
Gerald Wallace = +38
Wesley Matthrew Jr = +37
Only Marcus Camby (+28) was under 30 in the starting lineup.
grego21 - February 1, 2012
Bigger question is… why are the starters playing 30+ minutes in that game?
Jordan Leithart - February 2, 2012
For Portland? Only the youngins, Matthews and Felton played at least 30.
grego21 - February 2, 2012
who thinks were getting keyon martin?
RJSpurs20 - February 1, 2012 via Android app
People who are on legal/non-legal substances?
Dreamers?
grego21 - February 1, 2012
i expect FO to make some unexpected move and bring in somebody we never thought about.
Kondor - February 2, 2012
Luke Bonner…
grego21 - February 2, 2012
you ruined it
Kondor - February 2, 2012
Perhaps, or…..
The goal is to lower expectations so that at least the surprise is a surprise within itself…
grego21 - February 2, 2012
Is Luke actually playing?
Kondor - February 2, 2012
Luke was a rebounding machine for the Toros, grabbing 5 in only 8 minutes to go along with his 5 points. The 4 PF were a hindrance.
Alamo - February 2, 2012
Evidently, it runs in the family.
Kondor - February 2, 2012
Utah/LAC is quite entertaining game
Kondor - February 2, 2012
Are we the only team in the NBA, which doesn’t have a player scoring 30 whole season?
Kondor - February 2, 2012
quality assurance not quantity assurance
cojones2thewall - February 2, 2012
Hey guys. I just have to say I miss you and this fun stuff here. I am working nights now.. and the way things are, I can’t get here as I would like to… Just one thing to say: Go Spurs Go!
oldtimeyspurfan - February 2, 2012
Oldtimey! We’re missing you in the game threads.
Keep safe, wise one.
day_late_friend - February 2, 2012
I was thinking about you recently. PtR was not the same without you.
Kondor - February 2, 2012
.
SanAntonioGiant - February 2, 2012
Best moment of the game.
grego21 - February 2, 2012
42 inch vertical leap
spursfan87 - February 2, 2012
Did anyone check on Fred? Is he still alive with all the Bonner domination? Is he recapping the game?
grego21 - February 2, 2012
Last 10 games +/-
73 Bonner – King of the +/-
+48 Splitter – Well, he’s just beautfiul..
46 James Anderson – This suprised me, but this makes sense since he was part of the Dallas comeback and Houston one.
+44 Green – well this one seems to be indicating right
+26 Neal – he’s been picking it up recently as he gets his legs, and Pop finds other guys to cover for his D
+5 Parker – His score is hurt the most by all the groups he plays with.
===
Eeek…
-20 RJ – yep, he’s dropped off with some of those recent games where the starting 5 was poo
-24 Duncan – makes sense with some of the games where he just didn’t have it
====
Holy crap
-52 Leonard – the life of a rookie, especially in a super quick season. His lack of consistent shot hurts a bit as well.
-58 Blair – this is not good.
grego21 - February 2, 2012
http://www.nba.com/statistics/plusminus/plusminus_sort.jsp?pcomb=1&season=22011&split=22&team=Spurs
grego21 - February 2, 2012
If you look at all games it isn’t much different. On a per minute basis, Manu, Bonner and Anderson look close as the team leaders with Green not far back.
Alamo - February 2, 2012
In summary, there’s something wrong with the starting line up. Those 5 just dont play well together
spursfan87 - February 2, 2012
Only one of them(RJ) can shoot the 3. It’s a nightmare for the offensive spacing.
Tim C. - February 2, 2012
RJ’s +/- until recently was positive, but was killed by the Houston game (-15) and some of the other recent games.
grego21 - February 2, 2012
There’s a reason why Leonard has seen a fluctuation in his minutes. Both he and Blair can lose a lot of minutes, especially in the 2nd half of games due to their inabilities.
grego21 - February 2, 2012
Of course, our starters play against tougher opposition in general, but still our bench has been very impressive. Bonner must have been doing something right after all. May be he is hacking the computers and changing the stats?
Kondor - February 2, 2012
Battier was wrong….Bonner is the real stastical freak, he has no imbalance whatsoever in his game — there is no one way to play him that is better than another. He is equally inefficient both off the dribble and off the pass, going left and right and from any spot on the floor.
Chilai - February 2, 2012
Yet, the teams don’t expose him that much, except in lineups with Blair. So is the real problem Bonner or Blair?
grego21 - February 2, 2012
they are both the problem. When only one of them is on the court we can hide them. When both are playing together, disaster ensues.
Chilai - February 2, 2012
Based on what I’ve seen recently, it seems Bonner has been hidden much better. This is why Blair plays about 8 minutes in the second half of the last 6-8 games, and also why Bonner’s /- is terrific, while Blair’s is at the bottom, in the last 10 games (73 vs. -58)
