It hasn’t taken long…the Clips are high on my hate list. CP3 is just unbearable with his napoleon complex and flopping about so much.
Manuwar - January 26, 2012
He deserved it, that punk
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
it’s a good thing he and BigFun didn’t play in the Forest at the same time, Timmeh’s the master of the head slap… Now I want BigFun to do it, bad!
In the 666 - January 26, 2012
Yes but the lakers are at the top on my hate list …
So Go Clippers!!
Many people hate when the clippers celebrate after a dunk or after the game …. The lakers are even worst
cuentaluis1 - January 26, 2012
Shaq’s ego knows no bounds
Kevin21 - January 26, 2012
I missed it, what did he say about Dwigh Howard this time?
the little o - January 26, 2012
Still saying he’s the real superman, and also asked Charles if Ewing, Robinson, or Duncan were better than him in the post.
Kevin21 - January 26, 2012
lol, Shaq has too much of an ego to be a great analyst on the TNT crew. If you look at Kenny (owes his pedestrian career to Hakeem), EJ (white dude), and Chuck (chubby and never got a ring), each of them have something in which they get picked on with constantly and it helps their chemistry on screen. I’d say the TNT crew is doing well in spite of Shaq. His actual basketball commentary is good/not great, but his ego and inability to take some derision is a hindrance.
the little o - January 26, 2012
that TNT production staff will put him in his place, or EJ.
:)
I do like that he constantly gives BigFun a ton of respect though.
In the 666 - January 26, 2012
haha, you’re right, the crew has been letting him have it with his Superman infatuation.
the little o - January 26, 2012
Agreed. Love it when they gang up on Shaq
Kevin21 - January 26, 2012
I voted for the Grizzlies only because they’re in our division. Plain and simple.
Marky G - January 26, 2012
I voted for the little bear cubbies too, but I can’t argue with anyone choosing the clipps or the Cs…..
In the 666 - January 26, 2012
Yeah, I would understand too. It was tough choosing.
Marky G - January 26, 2012
check the unis…
In the 666 - January 26, 2012
I think those are awesome. I want one really bad
Manuwar - January 26, 2012
that’s my lucky number too!..
In the 666 - January 26, 2012
good old Chap
TDzilla! - January 26, 2012
Will the Magic score more than 56 points tonight?
spursfan87 - January 26, 2012
They better or they’ll hear some loud screeching noises from Van Gundy. lol.
Marky G - January 26, 2012
But Dwight and Anderson are on my fantasy team. Noes! Cannot happen!
grego21 - January 26, 2012
This is really a crazy season, now its Boston who might not score 56.
spursfan87 - January 26, 2012
Every time I hear Ryan Anderson and fantasy basketball, I wet myself.
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
GOL
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
Ha!
Ayatollah - January 26, 2012
Are you dominating your league with him?
grego21 - January 26, 2012
Not really, but he’s a big part of the success. Ricky Rubio and Brandon Knight have been pleasant additions as well.
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
Rubio is just killing my FG% though. Well him and a few others, but he’s been really bad…
I’m horible in my free throw shooting though.
grego21 - January 26, 2012
Rondo’s on mine. And Bogut. Injury news recently has not been reassuring.
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
foot fracture, sucks…
In the 666 - January 26, 2012
Oye…
grego21 - January 26, 2012
Even though it doesn’t really mean anything, I’ll post this here:
The Pacers have not extended George Hill (or Roy Hibbert).
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
Hill & Leonard?..
In the 666 - January 26, 2012
I’d prefer Leonard/Hibbert.
grego21 - January 26, 2012
me too, seems less likely though…
make it happen FO!
In the 666 - January 26, 2012
Yep. I’d rather them try to retain Green over Hill than though. Not as good of a scorer, but his size and ability to Manu like with his energy is a good thing for the team, especially as Manu gets older and needs to rest more.
grego21 - January 26, 2012
Yeah saw that on Twitter. Rather unfortunate. But then Hill becomes an RFA so Spurs have right to match.
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
I wonder if the Spurs could drive up the price on Hill, force them to match, and then go after Hibbert, who I’d love to have on the team. Meh, probably wouldn’t work.
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
Maybe if the Pacers didn’t have Paul George, but they do. Man, that team is full of athletes. Good ones at that.
grego21 - January 26, 2012
They’d probably try to match first all offers for Hibbert before Hill. But I wouldn’t mind if George signed back with us, although it should probably be for a lower than he expected offer.
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
From a pure basketball standpoint, it doesn’t make much sense, even if we take Anderson completely out of the equation.
With Neal and Green (possibly), you already have two guards. Then you also have RJ (who might or might not be dropped – although I can’t see him being dropped for nothing) and Leonard. Then of course there’s the one and only Manu. There’s also Joseph who is likely going to stay around.
grego21 - January 26, 2012
Yeah… just my fondness for Hill taking over there. I’ll make a bad GM.
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
That’s interesting, especially with Hibbert. Maybe they are thinking they could be players in the next year?
grego21 - January 26, 2012
Even with Hill and Hibbert’s cap holds, they’ll have space. That team is in great position to make some noise. BTW, I could see them getting E. Gordon and letting Hill go.
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
I want Hill to stay there. He’s a good combo guard. Pacers maintain their length on the wings, and he can spell Collison while upping the defensive ante. He shouldn’t be counted on too much to set up the offense though.
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
Gordon would be awesome, but the team has Granger and George. Who would come off the bench?
grego21 - January 26, 2012
I’d say George, since he can play either wing position. But if I’m Indy, I try to unload Granger for someone more efficient.
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
Agree. Anyway, Paul George should be playing the 3. Maybe get another good big man to spell Hibbert and West.
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
I agree. Granger is the one who can net them extra talent elsewhere. The problem is you need Gordon to be there then. Otherwise, you lose a lot from a go to guy.
grego21 - January 27, 2012
Roy Hibbert with the spurs … thats a dream
George Hill is playing the same role of the last year, maybe he is playing better defense
cuentaluis1 - January 26, 2012
The key to Indy compared to the Spurs is they have other go to guys for defense like Paul George as well who’s been improving all around.
grego21 - January 26, 2012
Jeez…Boston caught up???!
Ed (dfjmed) - January 26, 2012
Magic offense looking like poop
Kevin21 - January 26, 2012
Celtics defense looking like Pop’s wet dream.
the little o - January 26, 2012
They scored 5 points in the first 11 minutes of the 4th.
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
nice
spursfan87 - January 26, 2012
WTF! How did Orlando loss?
spursfan87 - January 26, 2012
Memphis uniforms are pretty disgusting
Kevin21 - January 26, 2012
Yeah, they look like the Washington Generals.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
Reminds me of Sprite’s soda colors
Kevin21 - January 26, 2012
Greetings, losers.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
Greeting. Just one from me.
the little o - January 26, 2012
Yo.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
Bro.
the little o - January 26, 2012
ChaCho.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
Sup broham.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
Sup Bro Jackson.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
Turnover Party!
Ayatollah - January 26, 2012
Are we no longer calling these “Loser” threads? I am disappoint.
Good grief – what are the Grizzlies wearing? Those are atrocious!
CapHill - January 26, 2012
They should be called #Winning Threads since all of us in here are winners, duh.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
Bro Threads. Breads.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
In your weird way, that makes sense.
CapHill - January 26, 2012
I watched this British comedy show once, and one of the segments ended by saying, " Thank you, ants. Thants". My life changed that day.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
That explains a lot.
CapHill - January 26, 2012
Bro hard or go home.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
Fuck you, Time magazine!
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
That’s just wrong. Leonardo DiCaprio deserves better. I mean, have you seen Titanic???
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
Titanic? That one cruise that sank the other day?
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
King Leo? Never heard of him. Does he play football or something?
the little o - January 26, 2012
He’s the king of Argentina, which as we all know is a feudal state.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
King eh? so it’s a poorer version of England? No wonder we can’t feature him on the America Times.
the little o - January 26, 2012
I was watching some video on Yahoo the other day when he scored the 3 goals and the announcer was all giddy and screaming like a schoolgirl. Seriously, the guy is amazing. I don’t know how he does it. He’s like the Manu Ginobili of football.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
Wait, Manu Ginobili pulled a Hudini in the world championships? =D
the little o - January 26, 2012
The video with Ray Hudson right?
“He’s running like he’s got a blender down his shorts!”
I watch Barca every week and I never cease to be amazed at the stuff he can do.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
Yes, that one! That 3rd goal was sick, bro.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
I saw it live broham, I wanted to give someone a bro first but there was no one else watching the game with me so I punched my dog.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
Did it bite you back?
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
Luckily he didn’t, he could do some serious damage the day he decides he’s had enough of me talking shit about him.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
“What’s that, you’re loyal to me? Well here have a punch”. It’s ok, they have no long-term memory, they’ll forget about it 2 minutes later.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
TWHS?
the little o - January 26, 2012
It’s just a bunch of men not good enough to play real football running around on a big lawn kicking a ball. What’s so special about that?
CapHill - January 26, 2012
I will punch you.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
Violence is not the answer.
CapHill - January 26, 2012
Unless the question is " What is not the answer?"
Hipuks - January 27, 2012
I was actually going to watch the game, as it was showing on one of the ESPNs, but I feel asleep. I also missed the Fed-Nadal match for that reason.
CapHill - January 27, 2012
At your age, no one can blame you for nodding off in front of the tv.
Hipuks - January 27, 2012
But I can stand in line for 4 hours to get Book of Mormon tickets. :)
CapHill - January 27, 2012
With the help of a cane / walker?
silverandblack_davis - January 27, 2012
No, and only 1 coffee that morning.
CapHill - January 27, 2012
Nice! Can I be your date?
Hipuks - January 27, 2012
No.
CapHill - January 27, 2012
I didn’t want to go anyway.
Hipuks - January 27, 2012
It’ll be in LA – buy your own tickets.
CapHill - January 27, 2012
I can’t, I gotta pay a jaywalking ticket that I got for jaywalking.
Hipuks - January 27, 2012
They didn’t deport you? Nice job.
CapHill - January 27, 2012
I had to give a thumb print though. Now I’m in the system and can’t commit the perfect crime.
Hipuks - January 27, 2012
Well that sucks. Guess you’ll just have to play some video games and watch some soccer instead.
CapHill - January 27, 2012
Life is full if hardship.
Hipuks - January 27, 2012
Third worlders tend to be a violent group.
silverandblack_davis - January 27, 2012
So if he’s King, what does that make Manu?
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
The Dragonborn.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
Their US cover looks OK, the other three are kind of scary though. Is that what you are complaining about?
Kondor - January 26, 2012
I know soccer is not that popular here but…The Power of Shyness? Really? They had nothing better than that?
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
King Tebow?
spursfan87 - January 26, 2012
King Tebro. FTFY
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
How about Brom Brady?
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
Brob Bronkowski?
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
It would be strange if they had on the cover a photo of the guy who is recognized by less than 5% of their readers. “The Power of Shyness” title makes me curious what this is about. Don’t think it’s worse title than “King Leo”, “King Tebow” or “King BronBron”.
Kondor - January 26, 2012
They should have put Bonner on the cover with the title, “The Power of the Shyhook”.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
And then Fred would have firebombed their corporate headquarters.
CapHill - January 26, 2012
great idea
Kondor - January 26, 2012
+1
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
Ouch, America’s that ignorant of Messi?
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
Yeah, we are more enamored with the fucking Kardashians.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
And Jersey Shore, don’t forget the fucking idiot douchebags from the Jersey Shore.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
This is how all the great empires have died, with reality tv.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
The Situation is the next Napoleon Bonaparte.
silverandblack_davis - January 27, 2012
Yep, starting with Pharaohs. The Mayans may have died for other reasons though.
Kondor - January 27, 2012
When I saw the photo in context, I thought it was that Nessy guy, but I probably won’t even recognize him without Hipuks’s comment. And I at least watch the World Cup and know some teams and some players, so I am easily in the top 5% in terms of my futbol knowledge.
Kondor - January 26, 2012
Craig Sager, my previous and still current hero! Gotta love him.
the little o - January 26, 2012
Did you see that monster jam? Craig “Skywalker” Sager. Hilarious!
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
I love Sager, boundless non-hater energy FTW!!
the little o - January 26, 2012
lol, he’s referred to as dick stockton
the little o - January 26, 2012
Chris Phlaup with the acting job. I can’t stand that guy.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
then please have a seat.
the little o - January 26, 2012
OK. Now what?
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
Now you don’t need to stand the guy, because you’re sitting!
the little o - January 26, 2012
Whoa, is this SNL or something?
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
Super Neat Linguo it is! or something.
the little o - January 26, 2012
Like the Clips or not, I sure would like them tonight if they beat the Grizz. The more losses they have to West teams, the better for us.
Ed (dfjmed) - January 26, 2012
I can’t bring myself to root for CPhlop3.
SinCitySpur - January 26, 2012
+1
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
Yeah, won’t it be wonderful if we were #1 and they were #8? Oh, wait …
Kondor - January 26, 2012
I don’t think we have to worry about being #1.
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
2 and 7 then?
Kondor - January 26, 2012
I’d say 3 and 6.
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
Who do you think will be #2?
Kondor - January 26, 2012
tough call, after OKC the West is wide open
spursfan87 - January 26, 2012
It looks like 9 teams could be anywhere between 2 and 10.
Kondor - January 26, 2012
Denver looks the part right now, but I think the Lakers might sneak in there.
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
I actually don’t hate any of these teams. After some consideration I went with the Clips because 1) they play at the Staples Center; 2) they have Chris Paul. Though Grizzs kicked our butts last year, the team is kinda OK. Their unis are ugly tonight by the way.
Kondor - January 26, 2012
so, I was wondering so I could blatantly root against you, what teams are people in this chat rooting for tonight?
the little o - January 26, 2012
Memphis. They’re all right.
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
but they’re in our division?!
the little o - January 26, 2012
Yeah, I don’t mind. From a purely basketball standpoint, I like watching them.
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
Their style of play is understandably seductive for any Spurs fan. I think they play well too.
the little o - January 26, 2012
Clips
Ed (dfjmed) - January 26, 2012
T
(Sorry, I had to pick an LA not to hate, and it couldn’t be that other one)
Tim C. - January 26, 2012
You could’ve been a rebel and not pick either team in your city like me. The Knicks and the Nets are nothing to cheer for.
the little o - January 26, 2012
But you live in New York, the greatest city in the world!
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
Thank you for gloating for our city, it’s just not our style.
the little o - January 27, 2012
ha! Snobs. :D
Tim C. - January 27, 2012
I think it depends what you like. I stayed in NY for over a week. It had some ups and some downs to it. :)
grego21 - January 27, 2012
But they have C-FLAp3!
the little o - January 26, 2012
Spurs. Most people here like the Spurs.
Kondor - January 26, 2012
Ed (dfjmed) - January 26, 2012
So Federer lost again and I’m sad. Nadal and that high-bouncing topspin of his to Roger’s backhand is Fed’s kryptonite.
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
Go Djoker!
CapHill - January 26, 2012
::shudder:
silverandblack_davis - January 26, 2012
So who are you rooting for?
CapHill - January 26, 2012
Murray. He used to be really irritating but now I just want him to finally win something of significance.
silverandblack_davis - January 27, 2012
Just doesn’t know how to close. He’s like the Buffalo Bills of yesteryear.
grego21 - January 27, 2012
It’s a mental thing by now. He starts games out awesomely but he can’t maintain that level of play throughout the match like he used to.
Hipuks - January 26, 2012
Like Duncan, Federer is past his prime. I’m sad to say this, once again…
Djokovic should be able to beat Nadal after beating the unclutch Murray. .
grego21 - January 27, 2012
If Murray suddenly wins against Nole, no way he beats Nadal. But if Djoker gets to the final, yeah Rafa is toast.
silverandblack_davis - January 27, 2012
Murray is just too unclutch to believe that he wins.
grego21 - January 27, 2012
For someone who likes to end points quickly, Nadal’s grind-it-out game really bothers him. To be fair, Rafa made some really out of this world passing shots. Just too good.
silverandblack_davis - January 27, 2012
No doubt, but Federer can’t seem to recover from things going against him when he plays Nadal. Nadal can be down a set or two and still play like the game just started while Federer doesn’t have that ability anymore.
I don’t know, maybe it’ just age.
Hipuks - January 27, 2012
It’s age. It shows against lesser players as well. However, those other players usually aren’t strong enough to carry that momentum because Federer still has fundamentals. it’s like Duncan all over again… :(
grego21 - January 27, 2012
GOALTENDING??? That was blatantly obvious you morons.
SinCitySpur - January 27, 2012
Whoever is still here, for the rest of this season, would you rather have Tiago Splitter or Marc Gasol? Just wondering.
the little o - January 27, 2012
Splitter.
SinCitySpur - January 27, 2012
T. He’s the better fit for our current needs.
CapHill - January 27, 2012
actually, a reason for your choice would be nice.
the little o - January 27, 2012
Brazil > Spain
cuentaluis1 - January 27, 2012
Hilarious. Really.
the little o - January 27, 2012
Im sorry … We are talking about basketball, i was talking about soccer … Oh wait
cuentaluis1 - January 27, 2012
Ha!
silverandblack_davis - January 27, 2012
Tough one. Marc has advantages in shooting and size. I think they’re even in passing. Not really sure about defense but Gasol’s size definitely helps. I do think Tiago has the potential to be a better pick-and-roll defender just because of his smarts and mobility. I’d still take Splitter.
silverandblack_davis - January 27, 2012
Splitter is faster. Marc is taller and stronger, but Splitter is sexier. Tiago seems to do all the little things better, passing, hustles, he’s a grinder, banger and does all the dirty work. Yes, TWSS.
SinCitySpur - January 27, 2012
Splitter, it’s only a matter of time before Marc Gasol is traded to the Lakers for 2 Choco Tacos and a half empty Coke.
Hipuks - January 27, 2012
Seriously this is not a question as of today. Marc Gasol is a top 5 center in the NBA. Splitter isnt. And im the biggest Splitter homer out there, but he has miles to go before he reaches Marc level. Have you seen the Grizz? Their other bigs are Speights (who the sixers basically dumped), Dante cunningham and haddadi. And the grizz are hanging in there just fine. Gasol does everything well, and he is great at a couple of things. Right now he is playing a lot better than his brother.
Chilai - January 27, 2012
His brother is past his prime. Lakers got their instant gratification, but lost out on long term further. But then Bynum wouldn’t fit as well, although then they could have moved him at some point.
grego21 - January 27, 2012
Yeah no doubt the Lakes are pretty broken up about the whole thing. Those three straight Finals appearances and all of the championship parade expenses year after year – just brutal.
lazNirv - January 27, 2012
I didn’t say they made the wrong decision about it. I just said they had two possibilities.
grego21 - January 27, 2012
Oh, well then, never mind. :)
lazNirv - January 27, 2012
Splitter I think is the better defender for the team, but yes Marc would be able to lead the offense more so. Then Duncan could take nights of and Marc could dominate.
Oh well… we at least have one of them to watch.
grego21 - January 27, 2012
we should be thankful for Tiago. We got him with a 25th pick and he is a really good player. He has a lot of room to grow, and I think that he will improve a lot. Lets enjoy him for what he is withouth putting ridiculous expectations for him.
Chilai - January 27, 2012
Um. . . I think Splitter was the 28th pick (if it matters). Ironically both Splitter & Marc Gasol were drafted the same year – 2007.
Marc was still on the board when the Spurs also picked Marcus Williams at 33rd and Gasol ended up being drafted in the 2nd round at 48th by the Lakers. Seems like a good pick.
lazNirv - January 27, 2012
Gasol came out of absolutelly nowhere. He was playing in Spain just because Pau was his brother. HE sucked big time. Then all of a sudden he became a beast. I saw the transformation. It was incredible. I’ve never seen a player improve that much that quickly.
Chilai - January 27, 2012
Yeah I didn’t hear much about him but I think he spent time living & working out with Pau as he played in Memphis. Then I remember hearing that he had dropped a bunch of weight and was doing well in Spain.
lazNirv - January 28, 2012
I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info.
Ayatollah - January 28, 2012
I’m very thankful for him. I wish he could have been with the team a few years earlier
grego21 - January 27, 2012
Psh… and just like that Memphis drops to 9th in the West. Lockout…
Ed (dfjmed) - January 27, 2012
Other than the Thunderclusters, the West is a giant log jam.
CapHill - January 27, 2012
I still don’t think Utah maintains that level of winning.
grego21 - January 27, 2012
Chuck with the “Best team in Texas” again…
Ed (dfjmed) - January 27, 2012
but he called Pop the best coach in the NBA though…
grego21 - January 27, 2012
Oh man Shaq lost a bet and walked around in his underwear. That was, a great end fo the post game show.
grego21 - January 27, 2012
