sleep research facility - January 13, 2012
How’d he watch the game?
SanAntonioGiant - January 13, 2012
Yahoo Gamechannel, your comments, and the clairvoyance of Sunkist
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
That’s one thing I’ve been wanted to discuss with you. I’ve never mentioned my Orange Fanta crush…
Iullaby - January 13, 2012
As long as you’ve known kaizer? That’s like being friends with Lady Gaga and never mentioning that you like to dress up!
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
Truer words were never spoke
KA1Z3R - January 14, 2012
Oh my, do go on
KA1Z3R - January 14, 2012
my first game thread of the year, my first time being #1 in comments. I showed up to play tonight homeboy
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
rec for the All Star effort
Josh Guyer (completely deck) - January 13, 2012
He came back with a vengeance.
Edg5 - January 13, 2012
must’ve drank his Sunkist
TDzilla! - January 13, 2012
when don’t I?
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
Never. That’s my answer and I’m sticking to it.
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
If Regis Philbin was here, he’d tell you that you won a million dollars
KA1Z3R - January 14, 2012
how good is Portland? are they really 2-3 team in the west?
Kondor - January 13, 2012
Not tonite they weren’t. I think they’re kinda Jeckyll and Hyde.
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
Losing Camby hurt them bad. This was a weird night. A Friday 13th kind of night. Aldridge also got in foul trouble.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
Our youngsters played pretty good D on LA in the 2nd half. He still got his points, but it was not an easy game for him (as some of our previous match ups).
Kondor - January 13, 2012
Definitely. Not trying to take anything away from them, but Camby being out hurt. Leonard and Green definitely played good help D on him while Splitter covered him. That was a solid unit.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
Yes, Camby was a big loss for them. Still it was impressive how Splitter dominated in the 3rd, even though it wasn’t against the strongest possible opposition. Hopefully, he can play like that more often.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
Camby steps on Kawhi and gets injured
TDzilla! - January 13, 2012
I don’t think that’s the case. I think he turned it all on his lonesome.
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
It was that + age + lack of a real training camp
grego21 - January 13, 2012
Spurs Win!!!
spursfan87 - January 13, 2012
How funny! I was watching that movie today.
Marky G - January 13, 2012
Was Wallace guarding RJ? That guy is a freaking monster.
Tim C. - January 13, 2012
Wallace was hugging Neal. It looked like he had a crash on Gary.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
zing!
Iullaby - January 13, 2012
Who doesn’t?
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
I would hug all our guys after a game like that. It’s just kind of unusual for an opposing player.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
It was DURING the game, and it was b/c he’d just flattened him.
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
It makes more sense after you explained it.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
would it be too much to ask Cle to beat LA?
hurts2bgood - January 13, 2012
No
Spurlady - January 13, 2012
where’s WaveOcean
TDzilla! - January 13, 2012
Probably
Edg5 - January 13, 2012
Well, I dont want to place anymore pressure on them
hurts2bgood - January 13, 2012
Cleveland is a .500 team, nice
spursfan87 - January 13, 2012
Does Cleveland even have NBA caliber players on its roster? I really don’t know.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
Varejao and Irving are good.
Edg5 - January 13, 2012
Isn’t Varejao hurt?
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
Nope. He’s playing right now.
Edg5 - January 13, 2012
Jamison and Varejao are the only ones i know
spursfan87 - January 13, 2012
kyrie!
sleep research facility - January 13, 2012
Gee? lol
TDzilla! - January 13, 2012
Gee Whiz
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
Dang – Timofey Mozgov is killing the Heat.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
Now it’s Lawson who’s killing them.
Edg5 - January 13, 2012
Please, keep killing Miami, whoever you are.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
That’s because he plays center. A concept the Heat roster is unfamiliar with.
Tim C. - January 13, 2012
And Lawson is killing them because he plays point guard. A concept the Heat roster is unfamiliar with.
Edg5 - January 13, 2012
I really, really hate to say this, but I enjoy watching this Nuggets team.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
No shame in that. The Thuggets are all gone, except Birdman.
Tim C. - January 13, 2012
And he’s not playing much. The Nuggets have 15 legitimate NBA players on their roster. Cray-zee!
CapHill - January 13, 2012
They are fun to watch. Gallo, Lawson, Fernandez, Mozgov all fun players to watch. Carmelo is gone. JR is gone. Martin is gone. Embrace the Nuggets Cap :)
Edg5 - January 13, 2012
It’s hard to go against a decade of indifference/hate.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
The Knicks trade for Carmelo seemed a bad idea at the time to me and is looking even worse. Hang on to the guys they gave away and put them with Landry Fields and Shumpert and it seems they have a good young base even before adding Amare and Chandler to it.
Alamo - January 14, 2012
I enjoy watching any team beating Miami. I may even enjoy the Lakers beating Miami.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
You must be so conflicted.
I feel for you.
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
I’ll just have to depend on SiMA to bring the true Nuggets hate.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
What do yall think
Josh Guyer (completely deck) - January 13, 2012
Well, yeah.
DrumsInTheDeep - January 13, 2012
Acceptable
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
RJ has been consistently good for us this season.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
The FO knew what they had in Leonard
hurts2bgood - January 13, 2012
RJ has also mentored Kawhi, so yeah, that might not work out too well.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
Sorry Cap, but you’re the one in the Leafs jersey
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
Like I could keep up with a 16-yr old hopped up on Sunkist. I’m old.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
HEY…….I’m 17 >:I
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
Sorry. And of course I’m the one in the Leafs jersey, because unlike Tony, I don’t speak French.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
Took three years of it in school, can’t speak a lick of it
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
so, everybody in the West except OKC are less than 0.500 on the road
TDzilla! - January 13, 2012
Great game. Kicked it into a higher gear in the fourth quarter. Splitter makes all of his shots?!! Leonard is looking better every game. Green is making a believer out of me—I don’t know if he is a great athlete, but he is a basketball player.
quincyscott - January 13, 2012
even if his scoring is off, his defense is very solid
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
He just does a little bit of everything. And he has a knack for making the play that is needed at that moment. Kind of Manu-like.
quincyscott - January 13, 2012
There can be only one Manu.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
There can be only one Highlander.
quincyscott - January 13, 2012
Until you decide to go for the money and make some really crappy sequels.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
But he can share some of his wisdoms with the youngins
grego21 - January 13, 2012
which is why we must do everything to keep him for his entire basketball career
KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
His block of Aldridge looked nasty.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
Green is deceptively athletic. I mean that block on Aldridge just goes to show that type of stuff.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
GREAT WIN
Manu-20 - January 13, 2012
It really hurts me to cheer for Heats
hurts2bgood - January 13, 2012

Well after that exhausting and dominant performance, it’s time for me to go watch some Friends then hit the hay. Peace all, and remember to drink your Sunkist so you can grow up to be big and strong like KA1Z3R.

sleep research facility - January 13, 2012

KA1Z3R - January 13, 2012
your game thread dominance is cancelled out by your taste in 90s tv :P
sleep research facility - January 13, 2012
Like Popovich’s wardrobe.
quincyscott - January 13, 2012
Good times indeed
Manu-20 - January 13, 2012
Good win Spurs fans. I hope next time Aldridge can get more touches because that seems to be the only time
Portland can score on this team. Leonard reminds me of Gerald Wallace. I’ll be keeping an eye on that guy.
BRoyInThe4th - January 13, 2012
LA always seems to kill us. And we would love it if Kawhi became a clone of Wallace.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
It’d be better if he became a clone of Aldridge, but let’s not be too greedy.
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
I have to disagree – not the same skill set or size. Leonard would be better trying to emulate Wallace’s all-around game, with a better jumper.
CapHill - January 13, 2012
Indeed. may be Tiago can become a clone of Aldridge?
Kondor - January 13, 2012
Would be nice, but he doesn’t have the size. I wish Blair would, because post up is always going to be a trouble if he’s against a tall big.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
That’s what we want to hear.
I hope Camby is alright.
Edg5 - January 13, 2012
We totally dig Wallace. Does he tend to hug other players too, or just Gary Neal? Not that there is anything wrong with that … You guys have a good team.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
Lol nah, Wallace doesn't hug anyone lol. I think he was just in shock over that Felton pass because he had no way of stopping when he caught it.
BRoyInThe4th - January 13, 2012
So, who’s going to win the Australian Open?
CapHill - January 13, 2012
A jellyfish.
Hipuks - January 13, 2012
A tennis player?
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
Del Potro, of course. Or Roger. I’m fine either way, as long as Nadal doesn’t win.
Edg5 - January 13, 2012
You’ve done it now.
Hipuks - January 13, 2012
Don’t you pull for Del Potro?
CapHill - January 13, 2012
Yeah but he’s not at the same level he was when the won the U.S. Open. I don’t think it was a fluke, but I’ve never seen him play that well again.
Hipuks - January 13, 2012
Edg5, Y U NO like NADAL?
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
Um. He’s a douche. He celebrates oppenents mistakes. That’s some Leyton Hewitt territory right there. And he’s so theatrical. He seems to try to make every point look almost heroic. It was a forehand winner dude, that’s it.
Also, I had the biggest man crush on Coria (remember Coria, the guy who was the best clay player out there before Nadal) and Nadal beat him in like 3 straight finals.
Edg5 - January 13, 2012
I hate Nadal as well. Fed is my man, though I am fine with Djokovic too.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
Federer crying when he couldn’t win, despite already being a record-setting number one? That marks him as an idiot too.
LatinD - January 14, 2012
You don’t get to be number one unless you care to an unhealthy degree about the game. The other day they showed a picture of Messi crying in the locker room after they had lost the Copa Del Rey final against Real Madrid. The shitty Copa Del Rey when he already has won everything there is to be won in club football.
Hipuks - January 14, 2012
+ how many Grand Slams Roger has
silverandblack_davis - January 15, 2012
Dude… Coria? You complain about Nadal’s attitude and you’re a Coria fan? He was the biggest shit our country produced. Remember when he faked being injured against Gaudio, beat him, and then limped to midcourt? Or when he grabbed his balls at the other player? Or when he insulted the ref and was always disqualified? Or when he spat in the general direction of Hewitt? Or or or or.
Nadal makes tennis fun, annoying as he may be. (And I agree there.)
LatinD - January 14, 2012
Coria was the most driven and talented tennis player Argentina has produced since the 70s. He was so dedicated that he burned out and had to retire. He was one of the most talented players I’ve ever seen and he was constantly, unfairly criticized by the press while less driven players ::cough Gaudio and Nalbandian cough:: were lauded for being fun and friendly while he was reserved. The press didn’t like his “boring” and uber-competitive personality, so he was always getting overlooked in favor of lesser players.
Let’s not even start with the “fake” injury. That’s what Gaudio thought was going on. The guy whose multiple nervous breakdowns made the one portrayed in that scene from The Royal Tennembaums seem tame in comparison.
Everyone in tennis bitches to the refs and I don’t remember him getting “always disqualified” at all. The incident with Hewitt was unfortunate, but if there’s a tennis player who deserves it, it’s Hewitt. Coria was not the only one that did that to Lleyton, you know.
As for Nadal making tennis fun, he probably does for a lot of people. I had more fun watching Coria and right now I have more fun watching other guys than him.
Edg5 - January 14, 2012
This argument makes me want to fly Edg5 up to Austin, where he and LatinD can argue the relative demerits of each other’s favorite tennis players while the three of us drive down to San Antonio to take in a Spurs game.
Ahh, life is so awesome in my head sometimes.
J.R. Wilco - January 17, 2012
Also, the argument is in Castilian, but in my mind I can speak it fluently, so it’s ok.
J.R. Wilco - January 17, 2012
Go Fed! But his career is pretty much over. It’s Djokic’s turn now. He’s been super….
grego21 - January 13, 2012
Still want Fed to win a few more before he retires. He’s the greatest ever.
silverandblack_davis - January 15, 2012
Djokovic has a chance. He’s won it twice. And he’s now the best in the world, since Nadal has trouble staying healthy and Fed’s past his prime, even if just on the edge of it.

SanAntonioGiant - January 13, 2012
Looking bettah now. Only down six with Mr James sitting.
J.R. Wilco - January 13, 2012
Stupid work…couldn’t watch the complete game. Watched the last quarter though. Our TANG(Tiago, Anderson, Neal and Green) gang seemed to be playing well. but what about those TO’s? I didn’t see them at all. Lucky me I guess
Heman - January 13, 2012
It was a wacky game. A lot of bad passes, drops, etc. I was shocked Spurs weren’t down by a lot with all the turnovers they committed in the 1st quarter.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
I missed the 1stQ. May be our guys were missing me? ;-)
Kondor - January 13, 2012
How on earth did we have so many turnovers and had a half time lead.

Edg5 - January 13, 2012
the heat have that effect on most players..
ItCouldHappen - January 13, 2012
Never liked him. Respected his D but…
Josh Guyer (completely deck) - January 13, 2012
No. Not going to hope for him to win, but he’s a good person, so I can’t hate. Same with Hill, if he ended up on Miami.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
They say it’s good for Miami. I hope not.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
I was not expecting us to win this big.
Jordan Leithart - January 13, 2012
Our young guys were superb, Splitter, Green and KLeo. Tony finished the deal.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
And that’s why winning on the road has been tough. Young guys have issues on the road, compared to home.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
We need a bald guy with big nose to win on the road. There is nothing wrong with winning at home though.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
Thankfully the first part of the season is home heavy. This is why I didn’t get why people wanted to tank.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
There is one major reason to tank – getting better through the draft. The league should really do something about it. It’s shameful when great players gets paid millions for tanking.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
Good win! Green and Blair keep my fantasy team alive!
Ayatollah - January 13, 2012
Anybody want to join me on the “Tiago for Most Improved” bandwagon yet? I’m still sticking to that prediction!
Marky G - January 13, 2012
Chris Johnson came in and Tiago’s eyes opened up bright.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
Danny Green may politely disagree if he continues to play like he did recently.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
For whoever has a shot at it, will have to average around 15 ppg or do something crazy in rebounds and/or blocking. Always falls back to the stats, unless it is someone like Blake Griffin, but then playing for the Spurs also takes away some of that flash, by default.
grego21 - January 14, 2012
How about good looks, do they help somewhat to get that flash back?
Kondor - January 14, 2012
Well Lima did marry Marco Jaric…. That didn’t work out for Twolves…
grego21 - January 14, 2012
Are you ready to put “Marco Jaric” and “good looks” in the same sentence? That’s funny. The guy was one of the ugliest
motheplayers in the NBA. Lima seems to like hismonecharacter though. Nobody would accuse her of being shallow and going for the looks.Kondor - January 16, 2012
Anyone see Blair’s postgame??
SanAntonioGiant - January 13, 2012
No. What happened?
Kondor - January 13, 2012
.
SanAntonioGiant - January 13, 2012
did he fall asleep?
TDzilla! - January 13, 2012
48minutesofhell grades for tonight
I don’t know if I agree from a passing standpoint, but when you take into consideration his size and ability to defend, I guess I can agree.
grego21 - January 13, 2012
Team-leading +29 is nothing to be ashamed of, but I wouldn’t be in hurry to throw Gary under the green bus. Neal is clearly playing out of position, and he is not horrible, though you wouldn’t mistake him for Manu or TJ.
Kondor - January 13, 2012
Oh, I think Green has a better two way value, especially right now. I rather see Green on the floor playing more minutes.
I actually was saying that Neal would be out of the rotation when he came back (pre-Manu injury) when Green was playing good and Anderson was still playing. But I was wrong.
grego21 - January 14, 2012
Neal hater are you?
Kondor - January 14, 2012
Nope, but if Pop’s idea was pushing D, then it made sense that he’d lose some time.
grego21 - January 14, 2012
Seemed to me that Anderson was looking pretty good other than being off a bit on his shot and would just need to get in rhythm. He got only one start with Manu gone and the next game only played 6 minutes off the bench. He’s only played more than 10 minutes once out of the 5 or 6 games since, and has had very few shot attempts. If he lost his spot in the rotation due to having his shot off (he averaged 21 minutes before Manu’s injury), he’s not going to get it back from the bench. I suppose he’ll need to play outstanding D when he gets in to recover some minutes.
Alamo - January 14, 2012
I think, he lost his minutes mainly because other guys at his positions (he is 2-3) all played better than him.
Kondor - January 14, 2012
The spurs are full of shooting guards
We trade George Hill and the spurs still rock at that position, probably the only position that the spurs can dominate
James Anderson just need to find his shot … The talent is there … If you send him to the Nets or something … probably he is going to average like 15-18 points
cuentaluis1 - January 14, 2012
They gave up Hill because they knew they had depth.
grego21 - January 14, 2012
To me Anderson is RJ0.5 at this point. Ok on offense and nothing great, but decent on defense. I like Green and Neal over him
Heman - January 14, 2012
Perhaps. But Anderson has talent that is just untapped so to speak. I think its slightly different. No practices and short training camp have hurt him a lot it seems, especially since his shot was off to start the season.
grego21 - January 14, 2012
Anderson hasn’t looked so great on offense since his shot wasn’t falling, but otherwise looks capable of exploding on offense just as he had demonstrated in college. I’d agree that the offense has been playing well enough without his contribution and so the focus could be on who makes the best contribution to the defense. When the offense does bog down, Anderson seems capable of getting it moving again. I think he will eventually boost the offense simply by being able to draw fouls.
Alamo - January 14, 2012
What sucks is there are no practices this season so he’s pretty much screwed this season, until practices come about.
grego21 - January 14, 2012
Can consistently create? Eh, don’t agree with that… yet.
silverandblack_davis - January 15, 2012
Denver plays very nice game against Miami tonight.

117-104. I guess, Miami is not going to win 73 games this season.

That big Russian guy looks surprisingly good @Denver.

Wouldn’t have guessed that the 4 players to join Tony in double figures would have been Tiago, Leonard, Green and Blair. Those guys are all so old!

On a side note, western conference have some decent teams with no nonsense players unlike previous years
Porttland, Denver, Phoenix are all teams with no nonsense guys and devoid of bone headed ones., atleast for now.

What a fun game. I love all of our scrubs.

I missed the game! Good thing we won! I knew our chances of were winning were pretty good, especially since we were playing at home, but I was NOT expecting a win this big. Good job Spurs!
See you guys in the next game!

Proud of the guys for fighting through the weird crap that often happens of late when we play the Blazers. Spurs never seem to be healthy against the Blazers but, even without Manu, ran away with this one and ended up with a blowout victory. Nice way to start a weekend.
